    Yosemite was something else...

Death Valley is something else, watching the sun go down in the silence at Zebreskie Point is mind numbing!!!!!

I have about $400 per month coming in from a rental property. What is the best way to transfer the money into sterling? I had hoped to find holiday makers who are travelling and would like some US$ but then someone suggested a company that trades with the states on a regular basis/purchases items in US$ but how would I find people/ a company. If we traded at mid market prices we would both benefit but are there any regulations I need to comply with?
    Thanks

I thought about the fair fx card( which you could buy through Martin's link without any fee)and have decided to go with the Nationwide cash card( not debit) as this allows cash withdrawls from anywhere, UK or abroad without any fees at all, then just load uo before we go and hope that by July the rate will have improved!
funkyfin2000:how long did you spend in Yosemite? We are travelling from LV to Yosemite(staying outside the park) and the drive looks like being a really long one!!

    Christa,

We spent 2 night in Yosemite but if you are a hiker and like walking you should spend a lot longer we could have spent 3-4days there!!!!

Where are you staying? If its the blue butterfly inn then you are seriously in for a treat! This place is the best! 5*!!!! If you are staying there, please mention Richard and Claire to them!!!!!

LV to Yosemite is a long way, will be a long way, a good full days drive starting early.....because the Tioga pass was closed this time, we stopped off at Death Valley (where we are as i write) and then Kernville/Lake Isabella before heading up to Fresno and to Yosemite to break up the trip!!

Anything you want to know just PM me!!!!

We couldn't find anything in the park that was 1. available for July or 2. We could afford! Looked at Mariposa and Oakhurst, and settled for Sonora , which I know is a bit far out, but looks lovely, and ideally situated for our next move onto SF. Unfortunately we have our two kids with us who will have a room of their own so don't want to spend a fortune on accommodation, although having said that I have booked some fab places( I hope!). Never been to the west coast before and although there is a NY and LV thread, seems to be nothing else for this area, so any advice is welcome. Had alook at the Butterfly Inn and it does look lovely though.

Glad to hear you're having a great time Rich! I'm looking forward to reading your trip report, especially re Yosemite.

We've booked a flydrive today, for next Easter, flying into San Fran - plan to spend a few days in SF, Yosemite & Monterey, then down PCH over a few days, flying home from LA. 15 nights. :j

I drove LV - Yosemite. Took 8 hours driving. Stopping only for a quick bite to eat.

Looks like we've been trying to break through 1.50 for the past couple of hours....
Let's have a good old push!!
