Is it OK for me to come out of the closet and admit to lurking here for a couple of weeks?
Off to the States in 6 weeks and, also, hoping for the return of the $1.50 pound.
Thanks for the infotainment - keep up the good work!:T0 -

another lurker. Going to tanzania on honeymoon in July and need to take $2500 in travellers cheques with us to pay off the remainder of our safari. Will probably go for a forward exchange to buy them I think, seems to be some OK rates. We paid for the first half by CHAPS at a rate of $1.37, crapsticks, so said we'd be happy going with $1.50 for the other half. now that looks like a possibility before we go, and we can already get that on forward exchange, we're getting greedy...0

i know that feeling. i went to the US in January to look at houses.
Ended up buying one and needed to get $3000 out of the bank (in $400 batches).
I got a rate of 1.439, 1.360 and finally 1.328. Together with the commission charges I was royally screwed0 -
