hi
well you can take a rough guess.
You can ask the indian compay when they are going to post the charge to your card. You can then check in three days what the dollar rate is on website such as Yahoo finance of xetrade.com. You are looking for the exchange rate, not the tourist rate. I am sure it will be around the 1.98 level
You then need to convert it to pounds by diving it by the 1.98 or whatever the rate is
You then need to take into account the 2.75% capital one charge.
Or you could ask them to charge you in GBP and do a quick calulation to see whats cheaper.

Guys... If I get £2750 worth of travellers cheques in USD from crown currency exchange:
1) Can I specify what increments they come in
2) Can I buy back my £ with no extra charges
If the answer to the last one is no I'm tempted to use travelex instead due to the buyback option for £3.50, although I think £2750 is above their max?
EDIT: CCE currently give less than 1.94 with the 31-40 days delivery. Travelex is 1.922ish, and Thomas Exchange Global is 1.94 on the dot. I'm tempted to ring travelex to get them to match the 1.94 for me and buy them now... any thoughts would be nice.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Ok i've emailed travelex asking them to quote me for £500 in USD, £2500 in USD Travellers Cheques, buyback on each transaction, and to match the price from thomasexchangeglobal.co.uk/ at 1.94
I sent it to the contact email on their website. Hopefully they'll happily oblige[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Yes but they charge £5 for handling and postage for every £2500 changed so it could be a case of swings and roundabouts. Its still a great rate though.-Keep your eyes to the sunshine and you would not see the shadows-

Going on a cruise with RCI an American cruise line, so tips and onboard a/c will be payable in US dollars. I have taken out an Amex Platinum card for the 5% cashback and notice that they charge 3% for foreign purchases, but I'll still be earning 2% on the remainder right? Does anyone know if they still pay cashback on foreign buys? Thanks!0
