  • ok. that's the second thing that's pee'd me off today.
firstly our office gets broke in to. I get called at 11.12, 11.42 and 12.20 last night. I can't do anything as I've had a little bit too much falling down liquid to drive in.
so, i have to get up at 5.30! that's just not cricket....

and then.... they change the forum names and I can't find this thread for literally 30 seconds...

on the positive side, i did play to my handicap in the comp on saturday and was +6 after 15 holes yesterday (missed 3 so i could get back to watch the cricket - that was worth it!!!!)

    5.30am?
    Thats a lie-in matey !!

on the plus side, Cable is ramping up and nudging 1.41 this morning...

  • 07:22 16Mar09 Barclays good start sets up Gbp short squeeze

07:21 GMT - The feelgood factor is supporting early trade in Europe with the
Pound building on gains above the 1.4000 mark, so too then bringing more
pressure to bear on the exiting market shorts. The drive for a stronger
Pound being [BARCLAYS] call that it has made a strong start to 2009. The
bank also confirmed it is in talks about a potential sale of its iShares
business (valued around Gbp 3.5-5bln). Earlier FT report mulled US, but
more likely Middle East bids for the business, the sale of which could
avert the need to participate on the Govt's toxic loan insurance plan.
Note, specs confirmed still well short Gbp (IMM alone increased its risk
to 30k contracts from -25k) and with Cable now breaking last week's high
(1.4071), the search for stops is to shape trade. In this respect the 20
day m.a (1.4156), or Mar 9th high (1.4184) are key.

  • 08:17 16Mar09 GBP/USD: Extends North to 1.4166 as Barclays Shares Leap

[08:17 GBP/USD: Extends North to 1.4166 as Barclays Shares Leap] London, March
    16. Cable has tripped buy stops above 1.4120 (a formerly noted technical
resistance level) en route to a new one-week peak of 1.4166, with a double-digit
percentage rise in the Barclays share price from the 08:00GMT London Stock
Exchange open lending support. Barclays shares have been buoyed by the UK
clearing bank"s disclosure that its businesses have made a "strong start" to
2009, and its confirmation that it has held discussions with a number of
potentially interested parties re: the possible disposal of GBP 5bn-valued
iShares. Barclays closed at 74.1p on Friday.
    1.4184 (last week"s peak, March 9) is a GBP/USD resistance level. Bull
targets above include 1.4306 (March 6 high, post-US employment report release).
1.3700 was last Thursday"s post-SNB Monetary Policy Assessment low. 1.3655 was
    last Wednesday"s six-week low.

    I'm liking these updates fishy.
