With regards to the next stage, do they request my defense or do I just have to submit it nearer the time?

I have already filed the AOS online, I am just preparing the next stage.

If you have properly read the NEWBIES thread, you'd know that you must put the defence in, NOW, and that the AOS just bought you extra days to do that. No-one prompts you or requests it!

The NEWBIES thread tells you that, and posts by KeithP tell people how to email the signed/dated defence as a PDF attachment, and where to send it. You do not yet attach any plan or photos.

They already requested your defence. There is no "next stage" just because you acknowledged the claim, and this is clear on the form.
WHy do you expect them to prompt you at all? THeyve already done so, and even betetr YOU HAVE SAID TO THEM you know you need to send a defence in!

This is not a hand holding process. This has deadlines and a set process to follow.

I had read the Newbies post, but I keep getting told on this thread not to submit the defense yet, so that is why I questioned it.

With a Claim Issue Date of 18th July, and the AoS done in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 20th August 2018 to file your Defence.

That's more than three weeks to hone your Defence to perfection. :D

When you are happy with the content, your Defence should be filed via email as described here:

    1) Print your Defence.
    2) Sign it and date it.
    3) Scan the signed document back in and save it as a pdf.
    4) Send that pdf as an email attachment to CCBCAQ@Justice.gov.uk
    5) Just put the claim number and the word Defence in the email title, and in the body of the email something like 'Please find my Defence attached'.
    6) Log into MCOL after a few days to see if the Claim is marked "defended". If not chase the CCBC until it is.
    7) Wait for the Directions Questionnaire and come back here.

    No you weren't:
You don't file a Witness Statement yet.

    Different thing!

If you are happy with the defence I wrote, go ahead now and get a signed/dated copy emailed to the CCBC and then enjoy the weekend!

But don't wander off the forum for good, forgetting about the later stages.

Drives me mad when people get all this help then disappear off the forum for 3 months, flying back in a panic and saying: 'my hearing is next week and I couldn't be bothered to actually read the NEWBIES thread so I did nothing after bunging in a defence and the DQ form....'

Okay thank you coupon mad, but please do remember some of have very little knowledge of the legal process/jargon and this website is quite difficult to navigate unless you spend day after day on it. I'm not trying to antagonise anyone, I'm just trying to get myself out of a situation I'd rather not be in. I do appreciate your help though.

Good, get the signed/dated defence emailed, and stick around to read other threads - why not read the regular wins, we have them every day, several this week! It will give you confidence.

You can find wins by searching the forum for 'bites the dust' which I post on them all to make them easily searchable at any time!

Okay, so the Directions Questionnaire has arrived today so I assume that means I am looking at a court appearance? Is there anything I have to do at this stage?
    Thank you.
