Lycamobile international SIM plans

Sorry folks, Lycamobile's international SIM plans do NOT work from US / Canada, contrary to not only their website, but your advice as well. Good thing I rang them before ordering...!
I need a SIM for use in a UK mobile will give economically-priced calls to the UK from the US and Canada (ill mother-in-law in UK).
Is it truly impossible to find such a service?
Thanks - SS

As far as I know Lycamobile is for international calls and not specifically roaming other than EU roaming.

You could consider "Roam Like Home" such as available on Three or for PAYG ASDA Mobile (EE) and a host of others. But I think you might find that although you can use your plan minutes like at home it's only for calls within the Roam Like Home country you're visiting.

My solution for mobile calls within the U.S. is to buy a PAYG phone at the airport or alternatively on eBay or Amazon but phoning the U.K. is not particularly cheap.

There's a useful article here on travelling to the USA. It's dated Feb of this year, so check the comments and double-check any facts first as things can change.

You simply need a Three PAYG SIM with a £10(min) 30-day bundle to give you "Feel at Home" service in USA/Canada with inclusive calls to UK numbers (but not for calls to/from local numbers).

Feel At Home is now Go Roam but the £10 bundle giving 3000 mins and texts and 1GB data is available. If buying a SIM card make sure your phone is going to work in U.S. and Canada. Not all of them do.

I have noted that Go Roam allows the use of plan mins to call the U.K.

That's it, call UK as if you were there, hence 'Feel at Home'. But now a new name, must be in last couple of days.

I'm mistaken though unfortunately - no 'Go Roam' in Canada yet for Steve. Instead can put some credit on Skype or Viber etc and call MIL over WiFi, cheap enough.
