yep packing bolts all removed, I followed the instructions well, just that darn spigot.

JohnB47 yeah was thinking about it, guess it depends on cost, though AO deal is that every repair bill covered and if they cant fix it they will give a new machine all for 6.99 a month. Hoover will ring me wednesday to let me know about their deal.

Also, doesnt mention it in instructions, but is it fine for the drain hose to be clamped verticaly up the machine? I can unscrew the clamp though not sure if I am meant to do this. Guessing the pump will pump the water up and out the hose.

When our washing machine drainage pump broke the other week, the engineer turned up assuming that it was a new machine and we hadn't removed the cap - apparently that's more than 9/10 of their drainage call-outs so don't feel bad!

The drain hose has been a godsend while waiting for them to fit a replacement, I definitely wouldn't buy another washing machine without checking that it has one.

Your statutory rights are with the retailer, AO. You also have a one year warranty from the manufacturer, Candy, So no point whatsoever in buying an overpriced D&G warranty from AO. If you really want one, buy it in 12m time direct. The retailers usually mark these policies up 100%, it's the major part of their profit on cheap low margin white goods.

On every machine I've ever owned, the drain hose leaves the machine at the bottom, goes up the back of the machine, has a u-bend and drops into the outlet pipe. Having it clamped shouldn't affect performance but if the machine 'walks' at all you may like to check the u-bend bit remains in place.

I've never had a draining hose by the filter, hence my confusion. My tip is to put a towel on the floor at the front, open the flap onto the towel, place a magic absorbent sponge (google it!) on the flap, and THEN slowly unscrew the filter bit. Sponge soaks up way more water than you anticipate, towel gets the rest.

So glad you got it sorted.

    That's expensive.

    £6.99 a month is £83.88 a year. Assuming a standard warranty of 2 years, £6.99 a month for a 3 year extension to 5 years would be £251.64

I extended my Bosch washing machine warranty to five years for a one off payment of £89 arranged with Bosch themselves.

Thanks for the replys all. yes as JohnB47 said I was refering to the little hose at the front. Why this is not included on their most recent models I have no idea as draining the water via the filter is a disaster as it is too low and cannot be caught with any container.

I tried a spin and drain cycle and something was off. After the cycle completed I pulled out the hose from the sink drain spriget and realised the bloody cap was still on the spigot!! So water could not get past. So my fault really. My only concern is if I have damaged the washing machine as there was a bit of a burn rubber wiff afterwards. Would the water just keep going back into the machine if the spigot was blocked? How much damage would this have done? might have to jump on to hoover or AO's after care plan after this ordeal.

If you have any warranty problems with the machine and you need an engineer out DO NOT mention the not draining issue as most companies are looking for a way out of paying:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

What is the point of this cap they put on that everybody forgets to remove?

Probably to prevent water leakage during transport, as they will have been filled as part of testing.

I think the only thing with the extra cover is they fix it regardless of fault, though I've got so many outgoings at the moment I think I will wait a year until the warrenty runs out for now ;)

Yeah that spigot cap should be a different colour like red or something to be a bit more obviouse. Washing machine seems fine now. I am peed off there is not a drain hose at the front, every machine should have one, cheapskates! My only suggestion is to lift the machine on bricks and put a tray underneath and slowely unscrew the filter and let it trickle out. Too much and the filter bursts off and water comes gushing out. It pretty much filled a bucket there was so much water.

Many didn't even have an accessible filter years ago. To empty, pull machine out of its hole (full of water so nice & heavy) remove drain hose from standpipe & drop into bowl. At least nowadays they don't hold much water so easier to move after putting some Fairy Liquid under the feet.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
