Ombudsman might not help until you exhausted finance company complaints process.
When did you purchase? If more than 6 months since you took possession the onus is on you to determine that any fault is inherent and is not a result of wear and tear or misuse/damage.
To prove this you would need independent evidence. You can look to claim back reasonable costs of doing this (in the event the report proves inherent faults).
If you took possession less than six months ago, the onus is on the trader (and finance company) and they should commission an independent report at their own cost to prove there has been misuse/damage or normal wear and tear.0 -
