Remember when someone fired a crossbow bolt into the Oval cricket ground some time ago? Police firearms response teams were there in minutes.
You're sources in that text aren't the best.
The crossbows act covers sale and possession and the offensive weapons act would not apply in his own garden.0 -

Go on then explain how, he already owns the bow so the crossbow act won't apply. Offensive weapon is other than in the place of his abode.0 -
Get a hosepipe ready and next time he's shooting bolts give him a blast with the water, say you are just doing your own target practice and can't help it if he gets soaked.0

* i.e. what someone says may be wrong, but he won't spell it out - he'll give oblique references that don't help anyone at all.0 -
A slight tangent, but does anyone know whether it is legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow in York?
I'm inquiring from an academic point of view, rather than a "I'm going to York tomorrow to shoot a Scotsman" point of view.0 -

Nope - all those ancient legal oddities were rounded-up and nullified in a legal clean-up back in John Major's time as PM.0
