Could he? It isn't his car (he has no insurable interest), I doubt if they would have paid him.

But they would pay if you hit an uninsured vehicle.

OP, just answer the questions they ask i.e. if they ask has your mum made a claim on her policy, then the answer is no. If they ask has there been a claim made on her policy, the answer is still no. If they ask have either of them been involved in an incident requiring a claim in the last 5 years, then the answer is yes - a no fault claim made against the TP insurance. Be cleverer than the insurance company - as long as you are honest, then no worries.

Bad luck..... One of those things. She did claim off her policy though and the insurance companies want to know when weighing up the risk assessment. Simple as that.

My wife wrote my car off nearly 3 years ago, and I was driving hers when it was written off earlier this year.
We declare 2 x accidents and 2 x claims, as that is what we are asked (ANY accidents or claims, regardless of fault). Easier than risking a cancelled policy.
My accident was dealt with by the other drivers insurance, I made all the phone calls etc, but when the payout was agreed, it was my wife that had to arrange the payment into the bank, as it was her that was making the claim.
