Car insurance accident notification
Hi, my father was involved in a accident about two years ago when someone drove into the back of him. It was a no fault claim and we claimed off the third party. The car was my mothers car and my father was a named driver on the policy. I'm fully aware for the next 5 years I've got to notify the insurance company that my father was involved in a accident but not at fault.
My mother has just been getting quotes etc now and speaking to the existing insurance company and they are telling her you've now got to state she was involved in a accident too and she was the policy holder at that time? My mother weren't even in the car at the time of the accident. I've never heard of so much horse crap in all my life. Can anybody confirm if this is true? I just think it's the biggest con from insurance companies again. The company who mentioned this is SAGA

Somebody was driving your mother's car, insured under her policy, when her car was involved in a collision. The claim was settled, with her not at fault.
Why don't you think that's relevant information for her next insurer?0 -
I doubt they're asking exactly that. They will be asking if there have been any claims, accidents or incidents during the last five years of her policy. Which there has been. What's "horse crap" about that?Hi, my father was involved in a accident about two years ago when someone drove into the back of him. It was a no fault claim and we claimed off the third party. Get a quote from elsewhere if you think Saga are conning you, but how is your mother going to answer the same question that every insurer will ask?0 -
You could make sure that you point out that is a no-fault accident.0

When you get a quote they always ask about each individual if they've had any claims or accidents etc in the last 5 years.
In my parents case, my father has but my mother hasn't. I know it was my mothers policy when my father had the accident but it was him driving not her.
So, when my father renews his policy for his car with only him on it, does he say no to the accidents because it was on his wife's policy not his?0 -

No because he's had an accident so he must declare it.0 -
Your mother did not have an accident but she did make a claim on her policy due to your father's accident.
So I think your father would need to declare the accident as part of his renewal and your mother would need to declare that she had made a claim on her policy.0 -

What if the claimed direct form the third party?0 -
She - as the policyholder - claimed... from the other driver's insurance.AndyMc..... wrote: »What if the claimed direct form the third party?0 -

Could he? It isn't his car (he has no insurable interest), I doubt if they would have paid him.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
