  • !!!8220;The bank says I am entitled to the money!!!8221;

    !!!8220;Will I get it or not?!!!8221;

    This doesn!!!8217;t add up. Something (a lot) is missing from this post...
  • i loss my card and somebody use it at online shopping so i reported it to bank and they say for security reasons they are closing my account but i am entitled to funds. So i am worried will they give me my money by cheque or cash. And do i need to make an appointment for that before or i can just go to branch to take my money.

    thanks

    Looks to me that the fraud, when reported ,made the bank look at the transactions and hey presto they looked dodgy!

    Now then there are a few procedural discrepancies in this post IMO.
    Unless Nationwide KNOW the credits to the account are fraudulent then why would they close the account without notice (most give you 60 days) without giving the OP the opportunity to prove where the funds are coming from?

    Final question to OP - I am looking for new job - can you tell me where you work please as I would like to be able to save £29k in 11 months.

    Earlier you said the ATM retained your card after you tried to use it.

    Too many holes in this story.

    If Nationwide believe you are complicit in any fraud then good luck getting a new account or mortgage with a CIFAS marker against you.

    He lost or misplaced his card
    purchases were made online
    he then had his card, reported fraud transactions (not sure if report after found card or not)
    checked online bank
    went to ATM that eat his card.

    The bank must think OP is complicit if they've told him they have closed it forthwith and he needs to go in branch to access funds.

    Too many holes. Maybe a "friend" persuaded OP to allow them to use the card and told them to report it lost with the idea of splitting the gains. But that is pure speculation and it depends if the OP wants to tell us the whole story or not.
  • i got an email today which is as follows

    We!!!8217;re getting in touch about the above current accounts you hold with us. We recently reviewed the activity on your account and have made the decision to close it with 7 days from the date of this email. This is because we have security concerns about the account.

    What!!!8217;s next?

    Any funds you!!!8217;re entitled to will be transferred to a holding account. If you!!!8217;d then like to withdraw these funds, it may take up to three days for them to be made available to you, depending on branch policy. You!!!8217;ll need to go into a branch and show this letter, along with the account card or passbook. You!!!8217;ll also need to show identification, such as driving licence or passport, in order for us to release the funds to you. For a full list of acceptable identification please visit nationwide.co.uk/identification.

    Thanks for your co-operation with this matter.
