Building hallway and reducing lounge size

Hi all,
We are in the process of buying a new house, and wanted to ask a question about building a hallway. Currently to get to the kitchen/diner at the back of the house you have to go through the living room.
I am trying to figure out whether it is feasible to build a stud wall through the lounge to create a hallway through to the kitchen, but I don't know if the lounge will end up being too long and thin.
Here is a link to the house on Rightmove with the floor plan and a picture of the lounge

I wouldn't do it. I think you would compromise the lounge a lot in favour of somewhere you don't even stop. There's no dimensions, but it's not a very wide house and the lounge looks perfect as it is.
The house does have an entrance hall, so you're not opening the door into the lounge bringing the cold air in.
It's no big deal.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It's feasible to build a stud wall there, but only a fool would, I'm afraid.
We bought a property from fools. The feeling of space now the corridor's gone is so much better.0 -
As others have written. don't reduce the size of the living room. You will badly compromise your main living space for little gain.
Do you plan to keep a car in the garage?
You could consider putting a door between the entrance hall and the integral garage and use that as the route to the kitchen. Even with a car in there, that might be useful.
Think about the security implications of a door from the garage into the house.
There is already a door from the garage into the utility room, so make sure that door, the garage door and any new door you install are as secure as possible.0 -
I would not. Bear in mind that the lounge doorway is angled. You won't be able to come straight along from the edge of the doorframe - your corridor will have to be full width to have enough space for the door at the kitchen end, so you will lose more space in the lounge than you expect.
What I would consider - if there's enough room - is a door direct from the garage to the back garden. That allows through access for gardening stuff without going through the house.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
