Final follow up.
The old hob has a defective PCB and now the front left has gone, B&Q in Bishopbriggs has told me they will replace it fully as both have now failed, it's a shame the store I bought collected it from (Great Western Retail Park, Glasgow) weren't as helpful, I would've had a fully working one a month ago.0 -

I am well aware of that - my point is that cheap induction pans don’t work as well as more expensive items as a rule.
Cheap pans don’t tend to sit flat as pointed out, and are made of cheaper metal in a lesser quantity.
