B&Q faulty goods

Hello
I am wondering if you can help me. I bought a Cooke and Lewis induction hob from b&q 3 month ago and I have an intermittent fault with it. I took it back to the great western park branch in Glasgow and was told I have to arrange for someone to come see it. This fault doesn't happen every use, I am wondering if this is a failure of the sale of goods act as they are trying to claim my pots are incompatible. I have induction ready pots.
I never knew if you own a cooke.and Lewis product you have to arrange for it to be checked before return...is this a way to avoid refunds etc.
I am also worried that if the fault fails to show up I'm stuck with a defective hob.
Any help will be appreciated

It is normal practice for a retailer to inspect goods which are claimed to be faulty before deciding the next course of action. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

yes, if it has been more than 30 days since you had the item , then you have to get in touch with them and they can advise you on what they do to inspect/repair/replace.0

Are they decent pans, or cheap ones?

Cheapies doesn't come into it. If a pan has a magnetic base (and is over 13cm) it will operate on an induction hob. No cost implication, magnetic pans can be cheapies or not.0 -

Use a phone / camcorder to make a video of the fault happening in advance. If it doesn't happen when they visit, show the video.0 -

Pans can distort as they heat-up, especially cheap ones0 -
