Does it use the word "fine"?

If there is no mention of any court judgement, you can ignore this as a debt collecting attempt

does it mention the same words on the letter you received ?

"this case is not subject to high court or bailiff action"

no court order = just a begging letter, plus you are not the only person receiving them

The fine dates back to september 2012.
And in a couple of months this will time out* under the Limitation Act 1980. They're at the last chance saloon chasing this now.

    * subject to this not having been the subject of a previous County Court Judgment (as per Quentin's post #12).

    Hi
Thanks to those of you who replied to my query. Sorry have been unable to look at them until now. Right DCBL letter states the unpaid debt has been passed to them to recover the debt on behalf of vehicle control services limited. The fine dates back to september 2012.

ok , if you are SURE about that date:

    it is now 21/07

if the incident happened ion the very last day of sept 2012 then there are a max of 10 weeks in which VCS can instigate court action (if they dare bylaws etc)

presumably DCBL have given you "x" days to reply to them

play there game , dont crack on that you know the 6 yr rule and REPLY to them , start asking questions via ROYAL MAIL , NOT EMAIL

if vcs do try to go to court then they have to give you 4 weeks final warning , so play the game there is only a max of 6 weeks to go

PS , is this a different case https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4632149/airport-parking-ticket

I agree, reply with some old dross, to string them along through August/September.

Also for photos and their evidence from the client, as to who was driving. NO PHONE CALLS.

They can't hold you liable as registered keeper at the time of the event, as long as you didn't appeal years ago and tell the scum who was driving.

A SAR-bomb will give them enough to get on with to make a big dent in the remaining period before timeout!
