Prepaid card for carers?

From previous threads Beenie lives very far away, and her Mother doesn't have a freezer.
Distance clearly a problem then - understood.
Would there be any point in having a small freezer installed - sledgehammer to crack a nut maybe.
If you are able to provide cash/card/whatever might it be workable to request a call from the carers if they intend to make a purchase. You can then sanction or veto accordingly. I take the point, though, that if mother hasn't actually lost capacity to make decisions on what she would like, it isn't permitted to override her decisions however unwise/unusual they might appear.
On the subject of cards and PINs, it is possible to speak to the card providers and ask for a card that doesn't require a PIN if the user has certain special needs. Risky, yes, and given that someone else will be using the card you might be refused (if you declare this) but you might be able to get a debit card with an 'always online' facility and have that related to a different bank account in your mother's name in which you only keep £10 or £20 and no overdraft facility. Just thinking off the top of my head.0 -
You can find a pre-paid card from a gift card display in a supermarket - look for a visa or mastercard gift card. There usually is some kind of a small fee for it. I've got a student daughter, and I got a Sainsburys gift card / parent card set from Sainsburys, where the two cards were linked, and one was used to top up and the other to spend.
My MIL was more than capable of asking her carers to keep buying cigarettes, but obviously they were so expensive that it did become a bit of an issue. Sweets weren't a problem - although your mum wouldn't normally ask for something like wine gums, perhaps if the carer offers she is agreeing with them. I think if you are trying to manage her care long distance, you might have to just accept that sometimes these things happen.0 -
You are confusing goods with groceries.
Is groceries not goods then?
In fact some of the Tesco Direct inventory is being moved to tesco.com which Tesco refers to as "selected lines" and Tesco Direct was closed on 9th July. Doesn't affect groceries.

But personally I prefer Ocado and if Ocado ceased I would prefer Sainsbury for home delivery.0
