How are Plusnet (non-fibre) upload speeds?

Hi
I am considering getting the Plusnet Unlimited Broadband (not fibre) service, but I need to know what the upload speed is likely to be.
I know that it varies by postcode.
I called Plusnet and they said for my area, download would be 7-17Mb/s and upload would be up to 1Mb/s.
But "up to" doesn't mean anything! It is just marketing speak for "less than".
0.99Mb/s is up to 1Mb/s. 0.001Mb/s is also up to 1Mb/s.
So, can any existing Plusnet users give me an idea of what their Plusnet (copper) upload speeds are like, (preferably along with their download speeds, so I can see what the ratio is).
thanks a lot
(btw, I currently use G4 mobile data, so there is no landline active in my property)

Since you don't currently have a working landline, try putting your postcode into this
https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.postcode
It should give you a rough idea of the upload speed available.0 -
thanks. dead link.

just says "upto 1Mb" again, which was the original problem!0 -
Sorry about the link, but you seem to have found the answer anyway!
Upto 1Mb normally means that you are a long way from the exchange. However, the 7-17Mb download you quoted probably means that the 1Mb upload is quite realistic.
To be honest, until you get an active line connected, you will not get a more accurate figure.0 -
thanks, my existing (4G mobile) ISP has a hugely asymmetric gateway with its wholesale ISP, so although the download speeds are fine, the upspeed is useless (something that was conveniently masked in the marketing blurb by the old "upto" trick).
I guess I'm hoping to flush-out whether Plusnet have any similar global/policy issues which would make their upload speeds as disproportionately bad as what I've already got.
If existing customers could post their down & upspeeds, I could look at the ratios and maybe draw some inferences.

I used to be with PlusNet. Firstly on ADSL and had 2Mb download and 1Mb upload on a line of about 5Km.
When we got FTTC, I moved to their 38Mb fibre service. The speed went up to about 17Mb download and 2Mb upload (capped).
I've now moved to Origin and get 23Mb download and 3Mb upload on the same FTTC line.0 -
I have used ADSL with Sky, Plusnet, and TalkTalk. For all of them the download speeds were 14-15Mb/s and the upload was about 1Mb/s. With ADSL it is the physical line that dictates the speeds mostly so every provider will give you about the same.0

I don't think the DL & UL speeds are particularly linked to be honest but what was the DL speed on the address checker?
In my experience UL speeds on ADSL is almost always around 1Mbps (+- 10%)0 -
@kingL
You asked this question on the Plusnet Community forum and were given the correct technical answer there.
Sorry if it wasn't what you wanted to hear but the advice from that forum was correct.0 -
