This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
It made a nice change to go over to see my niece and sister in law yesterday. We were originally going to meet for coffee but coffee turned into lunch and then I went back to their house for dinner and my brother brought me home yesterday evening. It was nice to spend some time with them.
Today I am going to go for my last trip to the seaside for a while. It is the last day for a lot of the schools so I will stay closer to home for a while.
On the way back I want to call in to the supermarket and get a few things. Then I need to think about catching up on some long overdue housework, although it doesn’t look too bad. I think the little bits I have been doing in the cooler evenings have helped keep it in check.
Csarina I hope that your back is a bit better today.
Glad Mr Fixit is feeling a bit better nannywindow, let’s hope that ‘nice’ dad stays around for a while. A visit from the sandman would be most welcome.
TA I hope that you enjoyed your well-deserved day out yesterday.
Lainey I’m pleased to hear that your sister in laws op went well. I hope that she makes a good recovery.
Exciting times for your DD Redruby, I hope that the move goes well.
Nelski I hope that you had a fun lunch and not too much prosecco.
Camelot I hope that you are enjoying your time with DS1 and the children,
I’m thinking of those who are struggling, unwell, or caring for others who are unwell. There are a lot of us who are going through difficult times right now.
Have a god day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
It is getting light now, I have a load of washing going round in the machine . I haven't looked at the forecast since it seems a bit hit and miss at present, often it insists that it is raining and we have seen no rain for weeks, except for a few spits and spots. There is a lovely breeze at present.
My shoulder is much improved and the jaw pain is lessening, I don't think it is anything sinister. I have been using my gum shield thing at night as it could be that I am grinding my teeth in my sleep.
I have boringly domestic plans today.
Thinking of those who are worried or unwell.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy and overcast here this morning, but no cooler and lots of days start off like this and then the sky clears and it's a hot and sunny day.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him in a bit to go for either a run or catch a lift to the gym.
Dinner last night chicken in a tomato/bbq type sauce with HM egg and veg fried rice, very nice it was too, clean plates all round and no leftovers. Tonight will be gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas/veg.
Yet again I wasn't particularly productive yesterday although I did get the couple of bits DS1 asked me to get for the works to the kitchen. I did also do the ironing, I tackled that as early as I could before it got too hot. I did also get a replacement gas engineer organised.
So on to today -
I'll be heading into town first thing to visit the bank and building society, then will visit the cheap chemist as menfolk need some toiletries. Once I'm home I'll need to get stuck in to emptying the worktops - ready for the work on Saturday. Gas man is coming Friday evening to disconnect the gas hob too.
I've been keeping on top of the washing as it's been so easy getting it line dried daily, will check to see if there's a load for today and get that going if need be.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Another nice day forecast and still no rain since the 5 min downpour we had Friday night. Though the local weatherman says we may have some tomorrow afternoon. We can but hope!
I had a grand day out with my buddies yesterday and, better still, not a lot of spending was done! Just a couple of cs books for the grand sum of £2.25. I didn't need more books but once again I gave in to temptation. The stall selling M & S seconds let me down. They have stopped doing men's clothing now! The Red Lion was surprisingly quiet (wot no coach trippers?!) so we enjoyed a nice meal, bottle of wine and a good old natter in peace.
Mr TA had coped ok in my absence and had two visitors. DD to check he was ok and to give him some sample aromatherapy products passed on by a friend who has started selling them. A rather posh exclusive brand I don't think I will be buying! Then a surprise visit by an ex workmate/colleague who had heard he wasn't well and he was quite touched by that.
Today he is off with his DB again for another drive into the lower Dales and a fruit juice outside a nice pub in the sunshine. The wheelchair is getting it's first outing so I hope between them they cope ok with opening/folding it up and fitting it in the boot!
I, meanwhile, will have a fun time doing the weekly shop! I really must get back to going to Aldi again as Sainsbobs is just too expensive.
The 3 DGDs are coming for late tea after swimming etc for the usual ritual of the Bolognese Pasta Bake. Woebetide me if I dare make anything else!
Have a good day folks if you can and thinking, as always, of all those of us with worries and woes. NAN I hope nice dad stays in that mode and that MR FIX IT continues to improve. GERS I hope you have a better day with DM. LAINEY good news and I hope DSIL has an uneventful convalescence. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning
Thank you for starting us off Holly
Shopping yesterday, went early so home by 9, makes it so much easier when it's quiet.
Trying to renew DH's blue badge, completed the application and they have now sent me 4 more pages to complete:mad: I hate form filling. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning All
Just creeping about quietly here as DS1 and the children are still asleep, even the little one who usually gets up about 5.30! I laid in bed for about an hour but needed the loo so have come downstairs.
I've prepped the veggies for tea already as yesterday was a bit of a rush, I had quite forgotten that young children need feeding earlier than I do! We had a lovely afternoon in the park, even went for a paddle in the Loch.
Glad you had a good day TA, hope Mr TA enjoys his trip out today.
Enjoy the seaside Holly.
By the way yesterday's rain cleared up and it was a glorious warm sunny day, looks like we'll have sunshine today too. I'll get the washing on when everyone's up.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Hi all
Nanny good result on bringing out nice dad ...I need some training in how to do that
Lovely day again soaked the baskets first thing and it was already warm out there. Managed to finish the 2 pitches yesterday although it was well past my bed time when I finally pressed the send button. Alexa is proving to be great fun and the playlists she comes up with are fantastic. bellabella good for you on the bargain Lazy spa I am well jelIll bring the music for the party
Went for a nice lunch yesterday with my friend and her daughter. We had a lovely meal (no prosecco though due to work afternoon) Her daughter is just 17 and is such good company she has just started to drive and is so excited about learningPersonally if i could afford a chauffeur I wouldn't bother but I remember loving driving.
Need to nip to Next today to take back some dreadful sale choices I made last week. Pretty much all of it is winging its way back ...I must have been having a feeling fat day as the clothes are all way to0 big and resembling tents on me. Ah well least I don't have to justify the cost now. No planned work today so Im going to be doing some house stuff if the sun disappears or reading my book in the garden if it doesn't. I am finally going to get round to making my chicken fajitas for dinner.. chicken is out of the freezer so no defaulting to salad today.
Have a great day all0 -
Morning all
Looks like another beautiful day :jwe were chatting to a local lady at the pub last week who said we had not had any rain for seven weeks  we will be on a hope pipe ban soon I am sure.
Off to work today there are lots of staff in atm and not an awful lot to do so we are all searching for things to keep us busy. The new kitchen is finally being fitted this week so hopefully we will move in soon.
Not sure about dinner tonight something with chips I think, I have a gammon joint in the fridge so might out that in the sc before work and have ham egg and chips.
Lainey im so glad your SIL op went well xx
Have good days all xx0 -

We didn't leave the house til 10.30am yesterday. Although Scampi has been OK during rush hour, he's still jittery around all those people at once. Yesterday he was so calm I thought I was walking a different dogHe completely ignored the few people we came across and merrily ambled and sniffed his way along the paths. A man was even allowed to walk past our house while we were stood on our drive – that is usually NEVER allowed, he considers people near the house to be violent invaders
I thnk I'll stick to a later walk for a while, unless the weather gets too hot again.
Mum is popping round for coffee today, she says it's been a bit busy at their house and she needs a bit of peace for an hour. I think that's a lie – if you want peace you don't choose to come here, Scamp will fling toys at you the second you walk through the door and will want to play until you leave. I don't think she visits me at all, she just wants to play with a dog
Looks like another cool day, I'm glad because I need to get in the greenhouse and sort the tomato plants, they've gone a bit wild. I've crocheted some sunflowers, I'm not sure if I should make stems for them or just stick them to the fence next to my chair outsideI won't ask mum for her opinion, she'll get annoyed if I don't do the thing she suggests, lol.

Morning everyone,
Already warm out there, we still haven’t seen a drop of rain for months but they are now forecasting storms for tomorrow afternoon, let’s hope they are right as, apart from the pots which get watered, my garden is starting to look very sad.
The farrier got called away for an emergency yesterday so am hoping he can do Lu today instead, little dog had her pamper session though so hopefully she will be cooler without all that hair.
Thanks again for the good wishes re DSIL, will leave visiting for today as her partner, Mum and girls will want to go but plan on going tomorrow, apparently visiting hours are quite lax and anytime after 12 so will head over then
Glad you both had good days yesterday TA.
What a good boy Scampi :j
Hugs to all poorlies or those with cares, take care folks x0
