'Residents only' signage

In my street there is an 'assisted living' building for those with disabilities.

Part of this building work saw parking spaces built, since the fencing has been taken down no signage has existed declaring who is allowed to park there. Which meant visitors to the street/ residents had been utilizing the spaces.

Yesterday during the day, red and white signs infront of each parking bay were screwed into the fence stating 'residents only' there is no overall signage giving reasons etc or implications of parking there ie fines etc. They even put them up when there were cars parked in bays.

What could happen if someone was to park in the bays? Could they fine you or tow/ clamp you? I am guessing not since there is no further signage warning you about it.

Really , behave and park else where. I suspect these spaces are on their land. Do you go to sainsburys and park in disabled spaces ?

If you continue to ignore it they will employ the delights of a private firm......

As above. Do the right thing or they will become privately controlled. I assume you don't have signs on your drive/land prohibiting other people from parking on it?

    How selfish is Mills 705?
If you want his disabled parking space, take his disability too.

You tell us how selfish he is, has he actually said he parks there?

The only legal recourse a private land owner has against those who park there without permission is through a private parking company issuing an invoice to the keeper - and that is only enforceable if very specific signage etc criteria are met.

Towing? Illegal. Clamping? Illegal. Blocking in? Illegal.
    Simple "resident only" signs? Pointless.

Ridiculous? Yes, absolutely. Blame all the cowboy clampers for putting us into this state of affairs.

This is what I think every time I see someone using the disabled parking when they are simply too lazy (or fat) to walk a few extra feet. Are you really that jealous of those who are less fortunate than yourselves? I'm sure a disabled person would swap their disability for good health in a heartbeat. Be very, very careful what you wish for. Karma can be a !!!!!.

But that's OK because the people on the parking subforum here will help them avoid paying the "speculative invoice" from the parking company, talk about how all parking companies are cowboys, complain about those that engage their services, and so on ;) .
