Old Style Daily Wednesday 18th July 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I seem to have got stuck in this 1.30am getting up at the moment, and it’s a bit early even for me. Hopefully it is just because the heat is waking me up. I am having a cup of tea and then managing to get back to sleep on the sofa for a while where it is much cooler, so it’s not too bad.

I had a fund day at the seaside again yesterday. My neighbour had a good day and thoroughly enjoyed herself, so I’m pleased about that. I hope that we will be able to at least get a couple of day trips in at the end of summer when the schools go back as she enjoys the trip out. We had fish and chips at a seafront pub yesterday and then and afternoon tea as well, so we were well fed.

Next week she is going to take me out for lunch near home after we have been to her hearing aid appointment so that is something for me to look forward to.

Today I’m going over to meet my niece and sister in law for coffee in the town where they live. It’s my niece’s birthday next week and she will be away so I want to give her her card and gift.

Lainey I hope that your DSIL’s op goes well.

Nanny ((hugs)) I’m so sorry to hear that your dad is giving you yet more problems, I’m not surprised that you are angry with him. I hope that Mr fixit is feeling better today. If you’re running away to sea, I’ll come with you

TA hopefully the wheelchair will make things a bit easier for you and Mr TA.

Hopefully the letter from the neurologist will arrive soon LameWolf. Waiting for letters like this can be so stressful.

Gers ((hugs)) I was sorry to read that your mum isn’t doing so well. I do hope that she starts to improve soon.

I hope that things are ok within the family tru.

AOD I hope that you are recovering from your shoulder, back and jawbone problems. Shopping is becoming quite a dangerous pastime :).

RedRuby I hope that you managed to sort out the weekend working without too many problems, it was agreed that you wouldn’t work weekends and you have agreed to do the odd one, but I agree that you need to be careful that doing one doesn’t lead to it becoming a regular thing.

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

My shoulder is improving though I didn't get much done yesterday. Jaw still hurts, it is not the hinge bit, goodness knows how I've managed to get a sore jaw, I'm sure it will go.

I slept reasonably well but don't seem able to sleep much past 4, the odd occasion when I do feels worth celebrating! I am getting better at going back to sleep when I wake up though.

Today I was planning to go out to hunt down the right coloured yarn to make a Yoda for a friend but I am a bit scared of shopping now, may have to leave it until Friday when hopefully shoulder will be fully recovered. I have plenty to do here anyway.

Thinking of those of us who are unwell or caring for others who are struggling.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Blue sky and sun now rising here, was cooler yesterday but looks like another hot day here.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, he wants to go to the gym this morning and possibly a run before - I'll wake him in a bit.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost last night, that will become chicken with a sauce, I'll serve it with a HM egg and veg savoury rice.

Yesterday I wasn't overly productive, but did get our bed stripped, bed linen washed, dried and put away. I re-made the bed early too, before it got to hot. I did a couple of admin jobs and got a reply back from a gas registered workman to say he can do the job at the end of the week just waiting for him to confirm what day and approx time.

On to today - I will be going to pick up a couple of items needed for the kitchen work and a loaf of bread and stir fry veg. I then need to start giving the kitchen a good clean and also the porch, it puts me off doing this kind of job when it's so hot though. I do like the hot weather but when I don't have anything to do or am on hols.

Awful local news yesterday confirmed a youngster (10 year old) had a bicycle accident on his way to start last week of school before the summer holidays and died at the scene - such a tragedy.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I hope you can soon start sleeping better. It was cooler last night up here but I was still wide awake at worry o'clock as usual. Bah!

Still an overload of problems between most of us on here.. GERS I hope your DM soon starts to pick up. NANNY you rant away. I remember full well the stress involved caring for an aged parent, who only has thoughts of themselves, and getting bombarded with phone calls all hours of the night and day.

I am running away today but, unfortunately not to sea! The rate we are all going we will need to get a coach trip up for that! I am off to Skipton again on the bus with my friend and the friend who retired earlier this year. So today we are three! The usual trawl of the market stalls and cs with a late lunch in the Red Lion and just hope it's not packed with coach trippers like last time! If it is there are plenty more places to eat (with the obligatory wine!) to natter away, have a moan, a laugh and generally put the world to rights! It's always an enjoyable day out.

Mr TA should be fine on his own, unless he decides to perform some acrobatics on the stairs! I am leaving him well provided for but, without me hounding him and trying to force feed him, it will probably still be there when I get back.

All his clothes are hanging off him these days with losing some much weight so I am hoping the market stall that often has M & S seconds and discontinued lines will have some better fitting jeans and trousers I can treat him to.

Have a good day folks and (HUGS)) for all who need/want them. Hope LAINEY's DSIL's op goes well. LW thinking of you and sending gentle thoughts. Hope to hear of an improvement with MR FIXIT. Take care all xx

    Hi all :)

Need to try to get into a better sleep routine ...I am falling asleep at silly o'clock (think when even toddlers are allowed to be up) and waking up at 4 ish ....this has to change and like most people my sleep quickly develops habit wake up times so I need to try to stay up into adult times then I will sleep later. No chance of those nice afternoon sofa naps for me anymore.

So sad to hear Dad is playing up again nanny particularly with Mr Fixit needing you more maybe it is just that ..attention seeking behaviour on his behalf. Ill send the "child" catcher round later and we can put our circus plan in action.

snoozer I'm with you on the worry theory ...if its actually happening now then its a different thing but to worry about things that may never happen and even if they did may not be as bad as you think only hurts you as the worrier...having said that its easier said than done I know.

TA have a lovely day in Skipton you deserve a treat with all the very real worries you cope with daily

Lainey hope the op goes well for sisinlaw I remember the will it wont it happen very well.

RR you tell them girl you dont want to be back to exhaustion again your health is more important

So my guilty confession of the day is that I bought myself an Alexa yesterday :o I have been the first to pontificate that 89.99 was far too much to pay for a jumped up speaker but my defence is that there was £30 off for Prime day and on top of that they have just started 2 hour delivery in my area so got a code for 10 quid off and free delivery.....all in all 49.99 :money: its great fun and the music quality is fantastic. Couldn't believe the delivery time this is the future for sure ....actually took less than an hour from button pressing.

Any way back to paying for it now :) I have two pitches to write this morning then a cheeky lunch out with my bestie. Not a bad day all in all.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible and any news is good news

csarina I wouldn't be sending my dental plate through the post either !!!8211; are people really expected to do that?! Nobody sees me without mine !!!8211; NOBODY!! I don't even look in the mirror when I'm cleaning my teeth without it in, it looks bluddy awful :D

nannywindow FIL was like your dad, and the more you did for him the worse he got! He moaned about the whole family to the wrong person one day !!!8211; people don't seem to know what to do or say when someone moans about their family members, in case they make the situation worse. But this person knew exactly what was done for him on a regular basis so they let us know. Very strong words were had and he's been almost angelic ever since.

snoozer I hope mr snoozer's appointment goes well xx

nmlc That's awful news, so sad :(

All is quiet on the family front at the moment, someone will say something at some point but you have to pick your moment, don't you? Now is definitely not the time, but we want to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

I'm usually halfway round a walk by now but I haven't got the energy to get dressed this morning, coffee's not doing it's job either. I've missed my bathroom opportunity, the others are getting ready for work now so I'll have to wait til they've finished. Good excuse for more coffee :D

It can't be right that I'm THIS excited about a cordless vac! I've ordered one, it should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to try it out :D In the meantime, I'll get some paperwork done, dust the house and sort the pet food cupboard. That'll probably take me all day if my energy levels don't improve, lol.

Yes, that was so sad NMLC. I first heard that there had been a bad accident from someone who lives near where it happened. It is in the Eastern Daily Press and online in their news section.

    Morning everyone,

Cloudy and cooler here at the moment, most welcome.

Will be trying to keep busy so bread making soon, the mobile dog groomer is coming to give little dog a much needed trim this morning and then Lu has the farrier later so plenty to get on with.
Thank you for all your good wishes for my SIL, she is scheduled to go into surgery around midday, how long it takes depends on which course they take.

Hugs to all with worries and cares, we certainly have our share of them at the moment don’t we.

Have a good a day as possible and take care folks x
