Are you an Aircon Pedant???
You'll recognise yourself as a person that gets into your car that has been sitting in the sun and the internal temperature is around 150 degrees (no exaggeration) and then promptly start the car/Aircon, wind up the windows tight, drive down the road with your children and pets keeling over in the stifling heat (exaggeration) just because it says so in the book
Come on, fess up, you recognise yourself here and after all, the book will condone your behaviour

Any "book" i've read pertaining to air con says open the windows when you enter a car on a hot day?0 -
I set the cabin temperature to 21c and I can sit in a tee shirt comfortably in the summer. Yet in the winter I need a coat.
If the cabin is at a regulated temperature why is this?0 -
Because summer is hot and winter is cold?
Whilst the climate control will try to match the selected temp how effective it is will vary depending on the ambient conditions. Also if you have been out in the sun it's more comfortable to have some cool air, vice versa in the winter. Kind of similar to a cool shower being nice in summer but awful in winter!0 -
No, but I am a "perdant" when it comes to hyperbole. What scale are you using?ChrisK..... wrote: »Are you an Aircon Perdant???

Because in the summer you have radiant heat coming in through the windows. It's like when you lie in the sun on a spring day and it's lovely as long as you're not it the wind as the radiant heat keeps you warmer than the ambient air temperature.0 -
There's also a small psychological effect. You get something similar in Feb/Mar and Oct/Nov when the weather starts to change. After winter, when we get the first mild day, people discard their coats. After autumn, when we get the first cooler day, people start wrapping up in their coats. It's something like 12 degrees on both days.Nobbie1967 wrote: »Because in the summer you have radiant heat coming in through the windows. When I use air con on either car it feels like I'm driving in treacle so generally I don't bother using it; wastes too much fuel.0

You need to have your car looked at if using air con affects how it drives. You do realise that opening windows wastes almost as much fuel via drag as the use of air con don't you?0
