Millennium Parking Services - Swansea

Hi guys,

I've been a long term lurker of the forums and have read the FAQs for Parking tickets but still feel a bit confused as to what to do. I've not had the best week as I received a letter for a parking ticket in Tesco on Monday, which I'm fighting thanks to advice from the main post on this board.

However, on Thursday night, parked by my work offices just before 10pm to do some work and prepare for court on the Friday - completely separate matter, don't ask! When I left at about 10:20pm, I found a PCN on my car for £60/£100. I knew that they used to patrol the car park but I'm shocked that they do so so late a night (is this justice?).

I've searched previous MPS posts and have seen cases for the copper quarter quite often but I don't know what to do about my parking area - it's on salubrious place, behind No.6 Bar.

I'm slightly unsure how to proceed as I've seen advice to appeal and also to wait to appeal which is a bit confusing and stressful. If anyone can give any guidance on how to proceed, It'd be much appreciated!

What was the reason they gave on the ticket?
    What do the signs say?
Is this permit controlled and were you showing a permit?

  • What was the reason they gave on the ticket?
"Contravention as set out on the signage: Parked without clearly displaying a valid pay display ticket or permit"

    What do the signs say?

I can't post links to pictures as I'm a new user but if you go onto Imgur and add /HgPcL3z you'll see the sign
Is this permit controlled and were you showing a permit?

Yes, and no I was not.

You'd be best to try to get this cancelled by your work/whoever hired MPS. They will argue that there was a breach of the permit terms (to be displayed). You can argue entitlement and "de minimis" but best to work at getting it cancelled as early on as possible.

  • Thanks. I should say that my 'work' is my own business where I am the only employee. My office space is leased by another company although I don't know if they own the land. Is there some register where I can find out the owners?
  • What should I do?

Approach whoever contracted with the parking company to get it cancelled
  • Turns out the company who own it, Ventura Bay, have fined staff of all levels and even someone who lost their permit and placed a copy on their windscreen...There's no contact details online so I think I'm just going to admit defeat and stump up the £60.

Read the Newbies thread for guidance on how to appeal this.

Why would you pay £60 to these cowboys?

Or check Companies House and talk to Mr Morgan at Morgans Hotel

They're IPC members and I'm a little unclear on how to proceed after reading the newbies thread, I'm fighting another charge for an BPA firm which seems a bit more straight forward. From what I gather, no one has been successful with speaking with Mr Morgan, and unlike other cases on this forum, I am in the wrong if somewhat unfortunate to be charged.

I don't want to pay but given the facts, is this a charge which can be won? The charge was on 12th July so I've got a few days to play with before making a decision.
