    wongataa is right ... and so are you. (You're both saying essentially the same thing). Before Win10 then Defender was simply anti-spyware; if you wanted AV (from MS) then you needed to install MSE. On Win10 then Defender is both together (and improved).

    Why people pay for this sort of stuff is beyond me.
    Plenty of very good free stuff out there................


    Because unfortunately not everyone is technical and are lead to believe "If it's too good to be true then it's probably a scam". Mainly because people don't know of the free software movement on computers that is legit. Linux being a opensource/free OS. Libreoffice being a opensource/free Office alternative.


    And then you have the free AV clients being free because they can and can afford to take the hit, as they have paid for clients that they can advertise to people via the free client.


    So yeah we need to educate people that there are legit and free applications on PCs.
