And the you find out that you'll probably be in your 30's before you can actually get a mortgage :D

    Most likely :(

Or a less mainstream one with extortionate interest, like those headache subprime credit cards I stupidly got back when I was 18...:rotfl:

  • If you’re being declined for sub-prime cards don’t expect a bank to offer you an account with an overdraft.

I don't need another overdraft, NatWest have an arrangement with me for £700, I don't want to get into more than that, given it is repayable on-demand.

I'm not being declined for subprime, I was last accepted for a Barclays card a few nights ago and the hard search has stunned my ability to obtain further credit. I was only soft checking the Creation cards out of curiosity, not to apply, I have 5 cards already, half of which are being chopped this fall, prioritizing the oldest account to remain open.

Barclaycard initial is quite good. I had one a few years ago and they upgraded to freedom reward card after 6 months. They will reduce the interest rate over time but you have to call and ask.

That’s the Barclaycard I was accepted for a few nights ago, subprime but still a tad more upmarket than the likes of Vanquis nevertheless (sorry Vanquis :rotfl:)

They have me on a starting limit of £660 (bit random with the £60 though, could’ve rounded to £700 :D) which isn’t too shabby, given all the limits I’ve received from others and the minimum they can give is £250, so to be offered £660 as opposed to their minimum CL is great for me.

I’m a bit more excited with Barclaycard, as they seem to have an offers section on the banking website for existing cardholders, which is something I’ve never come across with other subprime cards. Never know, I might get an offer on there in a few months. It’s also good to know that your experience was so good, being upgraded to a better card after 6 months and lower interest rates in the future sounds quite promising for me, other subprime cards usually don’t point to anything like that after approval.

To add to the pleasantness of Barclaycard, my card arrived today when I only applied in the early hours of Friday! And thanks to their modern approach, no need to wait for a PIN either as it's now digital based.
