in Techie Stuff
Hi,
I need to put some photos onto a CD and wonder what site to use. I used Nero previously but now they want to charge. I wondered if there are any free easy to use ones please?
I'm not at all techie and struggle with most things lol. I will pay if I have to lol.

you shouldn't need any software or sight, windows has ability to write to disc built in
Also why CD why not a USB key? much simplier0 -
Hi thank you. The reason is that I've got plenty of new CDs and can cope with them lol. Do the USB keys hold many photos? I'm not really familiar with USB keys.
Another daft question how would I find 'how to write to disc'? I'm on windows 10 desktop.
Told you I'm a numpty lol.
I'm going to look for USB keys, one thing with the discs is that you can write on them so it's easy to see what's on them.
Thanks again.0 -

CDs will become obsolete. £8 for 32gb and approx £25 for 124gb flash drives.0 -

A CD holds 700MB
around 700 images, depending on quality, a usb key/flashdrive will hold many many times that, you also don't have the issue of becoming scratched
haven't done it in a long time but you should be able to drag the photos to the CD drive and there will then be an option if you open the drive0 -
Thank you, yes a couple of my discs are scratched so more or less useless now. I think I'll get a USB key to try, do get a menu up from the key to tell you what's on there please?0

its just like browsing any other drive on your computer so create folders with descriptions to help keep track of whats there0

Thank you again. Just been to Amazon and bought one, hopefully I'll get on OK with it lol.0

imgburn is very good cd burning software.
If you save your files to USB thumb drive, make sure you also have a backup somewhere safe, online (eg Google photos) or an hard disk drive. USB thumb drives tend to fail and are not recommended for archiving anything.0 -
I would also create a Google Drive or Microsoft Onedrive online account and upload them there as well so you've a back up should you lose the USB key. Never have just one back up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I don't believe this the USB key came today. I first thought the packet had been delivered to a neighbour, didn't realise until I opened it that it was the USB key. How did it get here that quickly and on a Sunday.0
