GiffGaff selling old moile

Has anyone had any experience of selling their old mobile through Giffgaff?

I have an iphone 6s which is in a good working condition (minor cosmetic marks). I am with Giffgaff and noticed that they buy old mobiles. I was going to sell via ebay, but I am always a bit concerned with selling higher value items there.

I could probably get more by selling on ebay, but if the Giffgaff option is hassle free I think I would prefer this.

I've just bought an iphone 6s from GiffGaff and so far I'm really happy with their service and the phone.

Yes- I purchased a new iPhone from Gifffaff and am more than happy with their surface. I’m just not sure where to get the best ‘hassle free’ deal for my old one.
  • Used them last week and no issues - paid full value on same day they received the device. Same processing unit/address as O2 Recycle (and I believe Envirofone) and same level of service - in my experience - as O2R.

I prefer O2 recycle which has always given me a good price for my old phones. Their packaging is also very convenient: Put the phone into a plastic bag, roll it up inside the cardboard packaging, put it in the postpaid envelope and take it to the post office and get a certificate of posting. Quotes given for locked and unlocked phones and include cosmetic damage. You don't have to be with O2 to use O2 Recycle.

Purely out of interest I just looked at what O2 would pay for a Samsung Galaxy S5 with no issues, and then compared it with Giffgaff. O2 offered £27, while Giffgaff offered £60! If I were looking to sell my phone, I know which of these I would take up.

Which Samsung Galaxy S5? It may have escaped your attention but there is more than one.

There are also more than two phone recyclers. Off the top of my head there is (singing) mazumamobile.com, music magpie, envirofone. I would not sell my phone to the lowest bidder either. You can even give away your phone for free to charity or possibly get more by trading it in when you buy a new phone (i.e. Carphone Warehouse). We get the quote and make the choice and hope that when they receive the phone they offer to pay what they promised which isn't always the case.

No, there isn't more than one S5 (unless you are counting each territorial version as a separate version - which is ridiculous). There was also the S5 Active and the S5 Sport, but if I had meant either of these then I would have said so. There was also the S5 Neo, which was a cut down version. While there was the S5 Duos too, I again didn't refer to that as I was talking about the single SIM S5, which is just called the S5. If I had meant a different phone - which is called something else - then I would have said so. I am not an idiot.

So, I was comparing the same phone across Giffgaff and O2. Just to be clear for you, I was comparing the Samsung Galaxy S5 (not the different phones - S5 Active; S5 Sport; S5 Neo; S5 Duos) - G900F.

Thanks for stating the obvious that there are more than two phone recyclers! You are a mine of utterly pointless comments. I know that there are more than two, I was comparing Giffgaff and O2 because the former was the subject of this thread, and you had recommended O2. I was genuinely interested in how they would compare.

Stop always arguing with everyone about everything. It really is incredibly tiresome.
  • As long as you avoid Music Magpie as I!!!8217;ve heard a lot of people having issues with them.

As with regards to eBay. I!!!8217;ve never had an issue. Always accept PayPal. Send it recorded delivery too so you have proof it was delivered and signed for.

I!!!8217;ve also used Gumtree to sell locally.

Had better sales than the recycling sites offer too.

Try plunc.com. Good prices and they don't mess you around. They have the best trustpilot score of any of the recycler companies.

A recent discussion says giffgaff has discontinued this service. Too many complaints, according to some of the responses
