Oak Furniture Land -Price differences

Hi All,

Looking for some general advice. I bought some items from Oak Furniture Land 20 days ago to find that their new lower prices mean that some but not all of the items that I have purchased are now lower.

The difference is £95 more that it has cost me. I don’t get my items delivered till the start of August so I’m wondering wether to try and give Oak furniture land the chance to refund the difference or cancel the items that are now cheaper and reorder them.

Can’t seem to find what (if any) my rights are regarding a situation like this.

They did chuck in a “free” mirror now worth £114 so I was thinking they may try to wriggle out of a refund due to this but looking at the site the free accessory offer is still on.

Anyone else been in a similar situation? What did you do?

Thanks in advance for any feedback :)

Did you place the order online or in store?

Simple, you have no rights to get the new lower price.

Conversely is the price had gone up, would you be happy to stump up more?
  • I placed the order for the items in store.

Thanks for the advice. I was guilty of only looking at it from one side of the coin.

We bought a sofa from oak furniture land when we moved, we were told if the price changes between order and delivery call and they will honour the lower price. How much of that was the salesman telling me what I wanted to hear I don't know, thankfully I didn't have to test his promise.

Are your items being made to order or in stock?
If made to order you only have 48 hours in which to cancel (assuming their hardwood cancellation rules are the same as sofas).
If in stock, they may allow you to cancel the order until pretty close to delivery, up to 3 days before IIRC? This is under their new home guarentee (or something like that), the salesman gave us a leaflet detailing this.

Forget the cost of the free gift, if you spend over £1500 you get one valued up to £300.

The best advice is not to look at prices again between placing an order and having the item delivered or using the service, that way you can never be disappointed if the price has dropped.
  • The items were in stock. We were told we have up to 3 days to amend/cancel the order before delivery.

I may just chance my hand with customer services and see how it goes. Don!!!8217;t ask, don!!!8217;t get and all that.

Once again thanks for all the advice

The same thing happened to me - ordered a few weeks ago for delivery in August, then noticed a few days ago that they are now promoting "New Lower Prices" (doesn't seem to be a sale, it seems they've reduced a lot of their prices by 10%).

I sent them an email asking if I could cancel my order, then re-order at the new prices, as the difference was about £400. They replied saying there was no need to cancel, they've re-priced my original order and will refund the £400 difference back to my credit card.

Very impressed with the service to be honest - I did not expect them to give me £400 back without an argument.

I agree - but they did send me an email promoting their "New Low Prices" so kind of hard not to notice.
