Extra car insurance for car hire

We are hiring a jeep on holiday in Turkey next month but it only comes with third party insurance. We want to make sure we've a bit more cover than that so am I right in thinking we need Car hire excess with CDW cover? Or something else?

I'm a bit confused by the term excess to be honest no matter how many websites I read!

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Third party insurance? From whom are you hiring? Fly-by-nights?

If no CDW etc then you'll need more than car hire excess, but a full policy.

Make sure the jeep is not more than ten years old or it won't be covered and remember that Turkey is not always included in Europe :)

https://www.bettersafe.com/Products/Car-Hire-Excess-Insurance-Protection You'll need to choose the option including CDW and SLI.

Either Daily Worldwide (inc. CDW & SLI) £4.49 per day or Annual Worldwide (inc. CDW & SLI) £84.99
    Quidco likely applicable.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Supplementary Liability Insurance (SLI) - In some countries around the world car rental agreements only offer limited or no third-party liability Insurance.

Bettersafe!!!8217;s CDW & SLI policy covers you anywhere in the world excluding any trip in, to, or through Afghanistan. Belarus, Cuba, Congo, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Liberia, North Korea, Myanmar, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria and Zimbabwe.

This policy provides cover for any amount you become liable for over and above the car hire company!!!8217;s own policy up to US $100,000 CDW for damage to the rental vehicle and US $1,000,000 SLI for third party bodily injury and damage to material property.

This policy also covers you for the insurance excess, which is the amount you are responsible to pay towards repair costs if the rental vehicle suffers any damage

The ten years old thing can be a bit of a problem as you have ususally have no way of knowing how old the vehicle you are given is.

This is particularly true of soft top jeeps hired abroad. They haven't made any new ones for years so all are getting long the tooth now.

Thank you. We swapped to a car which comes with a better insurance so we can just get the car hire excess insurance instead.
    Cheers!
