Apprentice car insurance

Used Martins tips for cutting car insurance for my 20 year old son, quotes varied from £1200 to £2500, on the off chance phoned the insurance company that daughter is with who is a full time student and they quoted £713 comprehensive as they state that an apprentice is still classified as a full time student. Unable to then beat quote using Martin's links but came up with same quote from same company.

Just remember that if you say they're a student and they aren't, technically they're committing Insurance Fraud which is a prosecutable offence and they won't be insured either as they have made a false statement.

I presume they is the insurance company.

'They' are the insurance company and so long as the insured person is honest there is no problem. As mentioned Endsleigh sate that an apprentice is a student, as until the apprenticeship is completed the insured remains a student. Just thought that as more apprenticeships are being undertaken than it is worth knowing. all information was given to the insurance company to confirm this was the case as I am well aware of the legal ramifications

when i was an apprentice i tried to get a discount from insurers but i wasnt allowed a student discount as it wasnt a full time course and didnt have a student card,but could prove i went to college.

maybe things have changed since then.

Surprisingly my current insurer did not ask for any proof I was at University, but I suppose if it came to needing to claim they'd be asking then and my insurance would be invalid if I didn't happen to be a student.
