Credit application rejected

HI there. My partner has been rejected by the bank when applied for a credit card. It happened 3 times now in 3 years, and we don't understand why, because we have the same history and I have a credit card for more than 1.5 year now, and the credit limit is increasing. He has a good paying job, a stable agreement, we are renting a flat, has no mortgage or any debit, we are living in the UK more than 3 years now, his credit score is at the maximum at any site,we have no kids, so we just don't understand what can be wrong. If you have any idea, I would really appreciate it. thanks

What do his credit files show?

Don't look at the pretend credit scores - you need to be checking the data.

What accounts does he have, what is their status?

I mean what appears on his credit files - Noddle, Clearscore, MSE Credit Club?

It sounds as if he has a very thin file and may need some time before applying for something better than Vanquis.

yeah, there was no big thing happened with his financial life, but I would think it is a good think. He set up some direct debits, try to use his card as frequent as he can, but I have no more idea how can he build up a stronger file. I did the same things, and my first applications was successful.

The Credit Reports do not show any suspicious thing, just our address, electoral roll, and financial history

He needs time. At the moment, he's too high risk.

Tell his to use the card regularly and clear in full each month.

more than 2 years now. may it help if he choose a bigger account for some monthly fee?
  • Not necessarily one that charges a fee.

Just one that isn't a basic account

okay, I'll them him, thanks. And can it be helpful if I add him as my additional cardholder to my credit card?

No. The agreement is in your name.
