Sorry, I am not asking for myself I already know but this is for comments and to be able to inform people with no experience of flight delays when they should or should not accept refunds and the consequences of accepting a refund.0

I would say don't take the refund.
Airlines, although required to by law, are not making passengers aware of their obligations.
Asthe majority of airlines are misinforming or lying to passengers by saying refund is the only option, I think there are strong legal grounds for re-routing claims to continue as passengers are being duped by the airlines.
Unless the CAA start to get a grip on the flagrant abuse of the law by the airlines, things will never improve.
