Morning all. I've been up early as DH is taking smalls out so got up to see them off. I've a few things to do, but first I'm hoping for a few more minutes kip, if not, I may aim for a nap later. Other things:

Potter in garden, there is some weeding to do and some potatoes to dig up
    Water tomatoes
Pop to bargain shop and buy some canes for tomatoes,
Vacuum 2 more rooms and then I'm up to date with the house work
Try some clothes on I ordered and see which can go back
See if any of the charity shops are open and if so drop off stuff I sorted a couple of weeks ago
Prep roast dinner for when family get home
Go to gym so I can use pool and sauna

Have a good day folks. Purps.
  • Morning Purps :D wow I managed to sleep in till 7.30 and after I fell asleep about 8! Feeling groggy for it though....

Oh is toting his parentals come round for a bbq today so that might be our plans. I'd like to get a walk and a pint in somewhere as well.....

other than that the usual cleaning, getting ready for tomorrow etc etc to be done

think I will get the sewing machine out at some point. Need to finish nappies made for madam's dolls. Feeling unsure re sewing velcro with my machine!

repot a house plant - in real dire need of love!

read my free book - loving reading again. I didn't read for a really long time, didn't have the concentration for it but I have read 2 books in the last month and am on a 3rd :D

    Afternoon folks

Still catching up with the thread so my apologies if I missed anything.

Ally - I hope your nose is better soon!

Slightly spendy weekend, but not too bad. I went to see a friend. Got the bus both ways, so only £13 for a return journey to a city 2 hours away! Other spends were, treating my friend to lunch and a coffee (she has only just got a job after a time of unemployment), some very cute little elephant tea light holders for me and OH, a folder for OH's important bits of paper (instead of current filing system of scrumpling up in random drawers) and a charity shop dress.

    Today's mission:

    • B/L/D from stores - done
    • Look through recipe books and make meal plan - done
    • Made a best offer on an ebay item. Went £10 below asking price (80%). Much cheaper than buying new. - seller didn't get back to me before end of auction. Bidding on another item now.
    • Friend passed me some jogging bottoms for OH. Get him to try them on. - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Reconcile budget sheet and expenses. Make sure OH sorts receipts from last week that got left in the car. - done
    • Asked OH to flick a duster round his music room - done
    • Asked OH to start putting his paperwork into the new folder - done
    • Water garden. We are having some more rain tomorrow :) - done
    • See if the sun has bleached the mysterious stains on OH's shirt. Poss sweat? Looked all grimy after 2 washes
Will feel much better after sorting bank account. Lots of sudden spends this week.

Price varies - it's usually over £5 but not as much as £6 & it is occasionally possible to find it online for £4.95.

Thanks for the top tips on socks, I already have the DPNs so will get some cheap aka MSE yarn to have a go, have knitted in the round a while ago so probably need a fair bit of practice to get it right :-)

Otherwise today has been a bit of a lazy one, did sort out clothes in the spare room whilst waiting for our wardrobes to be built in a few weeks, load of washing done and drying outside, NSD unless I get some yarn of course, food from stores as collected food shopping yesterday and have planned the menu for the week, just put the dishwasher on but waited until it was full before doing so.

Still no rain here so will give the lawn a quick water later, it's not had the best start to life, it went down just over 2 weeks ago before we moved in and it hasn't rained since.

Hope you all have a lovely day

You could try practicing with the dk yarn. I made a giant practice sock with Aran yarn on a massive circular needle because I'd never knitted before and it was easy for me to get the hang of how the stiches looked.

I have never actually successfully knitted in the round. I keep telling myself I will do it and then never doing it. I do have sock yarn though, and I maybe need to force myself to keep trying because they would make good Christmas presents for my dad and stepdad.
Lazy day today - did my tutoring, which pays for my cleaner. Fuelled the car, did a couple of loads of washing, meal planned for the week ahead, and have started a couple of jobs from the annoying list. Finally dug out the Actifry that my mam gave me and made chips - the kids have absolutely loved them so I'll definitely be making them again.
Also dug out the smart hub I got - our broadband keeps cutting out, and the box is very old - got a new replacement but I've never gotten round to setting it up. However, it's there and plugged in. Next time the old box goes off, I'm hoping it's as simple as swapping a couple of cables round and then we'll see.
These are things that have been waiting since ex lived here - but I'm getting there slowly. I feel better with every job I tick off the list and every bag of decluttering I do.
5 more school get ups :j

    Evening all :)
Well, predictably, I got nothing done yesterday except some watering in the evening  And not much today either, as I was absolutely wiped out last night, and didn't get much sleep. The house is a tip :(

But I did cook and eat the first proper dinner since last Wednesday when my tummy problems started :j
HG raspberries with breakfast, our own potatoes, broad beans, carrots and courgettes for dinner :D

Put the toys away and dusted the dining room furniture

More watering, did a bit of tidying in the garden, fed the French beans (which now have tiny beans coming on them :)) and picked some more raspberries and courgettes :)
Put the large turtle sandpit away behind the composter. GD doesn't play with it, and it is in the way. Her little brother might like it when he is bigger, but until then, unless she specifically asks for it, it can stay where it is!

Ought to go and investigate which of the front garden pots need watering and see whether that evil cat has been doing its business in them again, despite use of Mrs F's previously infallible patent Olbas oil on old teabags remedy

    Must do some housework tomorrow!
  • Next door's cat does it's business in my garden. I don't mind too much cos I like cats and animals are animals. But the little cow started digging right in my eye line. I clapped my hands and tried to shoo her and she literally just took a huge dump in the hole whilst staring at me.

Well it's been a busy week and I have no idea where the time has flown too, culminating in a fabulous 10 mile walk today. I've been keeping up with the small things and ticking a few jobs of our "annoying things" list. Hoping for another fabulous week.

    Night all!
