The damage is not quite as bad as I was anticipating. My wage will reduce to around £1,100 per month, a drop of £400. This is not a disaster. I have a lead today for a new client so who knows, with some luck I might get my wage up again soon. Fingers crossed.
£956 between me and debt freedom. I asked OH how much he has in his spends account (our monthly allowance for haircuts, clothes, going out etc). Turns out that between us, we are debt neutral today, not that I want to throw everything we have at the last bit of debt but if we had to, we could! That felt pretty good. I don't know what I'm going to obsess about once this is over, which won't be long at all.
I think I'm going to start a mfw diary once this is over, thanks for the advice everyone. I do still want to stay accountable, it really helps, but is it ok to do it without spilling your guts about every detail of your mortgage? I mostly want it to make sure I keep my mse head on, budgeting, looking for bargains, figuring out cheaper ways to do everything. Suddenly my financial situation feels private and personal, which is bizarre given everything I have said on this diary! But still. Why do it alone when there are others doing the same thing and we can support and encourage each other?
Hope everyone's having a great day.3 -

Glad it helped. Make sure you put a link here to your new diary to make it easier for people to find you. Congrats too on being debt neutral. Hope your new client arrives soon.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just a quick message to say I hope everyone is doing ok and surviving in this dreadful health emergency we're having right now. It really is frightening. I hope you're all staying well. So far so good in my household.

We are certainly living in scary and worrying times. I assume you work from home anyway? Well done on getting to debt neutral. Really in this situation that is the best position to be as things look pretty dire economically.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Yes I'm working from home enthusiasticsaver so it's all fine for me. OH is also working from home so it's nice (at the moment) we get to spend more time together. Both our parents are being sensible and also staying home. It's not a time to be developing new work though but that can stay on the backburner until this is all over.
I was reading about the stock market crashing and wondering about people'e pensions and retirement plans, and how they are holding up. I hope all is well with you - it's going to be a long haul to recovery.
Mostly I'm not going to let this take the shine off my approaching debt free date! It's coming!Stay well everyone.
