Trouble coming .. What do I do

I had a mobile phone listed for about two weeks, with no interest being shown. (A new phone .. never used before)

See this thread ..
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5857142/imei-question-replacement-phone

I wake up and see on my phone an offer of £1 max FVF. the phone is the only real high-value item so I quickly ended it and use the sell similar option, with the same price again, as it has been for 2 full weeks.

Now .. 10 minutes later it is sold

WARNING SIGNS !!

Buyer has zero feedback

Buyer only joined Ebay today .. If I suddenly saw something on Ebay I really really really wanted and wasn't an Ebay member, i am sure I couldn't just join so quickly.

He is in Germany and asking for international postage. I can't remember, but I think I ticked GSP option. Perhaps I didn't though.

What should I do ?

You listed the item to sell.
what was your plan i it sold abroad?( given you gave the option)
IMO a phone is just the type of item as person would join ebay to buy.

Takes about two minutes to join eBay.

If you did tick GSP, all you have to do is get it to the processing centre in the UK. From that point on it's eBays responsibility.

Make a note of the IMEI number and any other numbers you see fit, package up the phone and take it to the post office.

Firstly the issue is whether this is a GSP or not, if you are unsure how to do that then the easiest way is to click 'send an invoice' if it's a GSP item then it won't allow you to do so as that is all handled by ebay. GSP is a much better bet for this as ebay take all the responsibility as long as you get it to the UK hub.

However if the sale is capable of having an invoice issued then it means you allowed overseas buyers (and that depends on your own settings). The issue then is that mobiles are an issue for posting overseas and you may have a real issue getting it sent safely an insured.

However, all this depends on how you set your listing up and whether you allowed overseas sales or had them blocked.

I wasn't sure wherther I had clicked GSP, so I clicked on the item and started to 'Sell Similar'

    It was listed withy GSP

However, the buyer has asked for an invoice and I could do this. Does this mean he has maybe seen the item on his local Ebay, then gone looking for it on UK Ebay, maybe to save postage.

Tomorow I'll call Ebay and double check GSP was chosen. If it was I can just say it must be sold that way, then that would be easier and safer for me as you state.

    Regards !

How much did it sell for?
    What postage did you select?

If you listed it with GSP (and have you checked what happens when you try and send an invoice as I suggested?) then there's no need to check anything with eBay. Tell buyer that eBay will send the invoice with all the correct information and you cannot over ride that invoice nor make any changes to it.
How much did it sell for?
    What postage did you select?

If OP sold this via GSP then the postage will be whatever tracked and insured UK postage was charged, seller won't be able to see what buyer is being charged by eBay, a seller only sees that once buyer has paid.

Yes, I could send an invoice, or rather 'send payment details' with International Standard Showing as default. I haven't done so yet though. I am sure it normally says 'Send Invoice' but of course I rarely do .. buyers usually just pay and wait for their parcel.

Was going to get Ebay to phone me back now, but quite a long wait. Will try tomorrow. Surely they can tell me with 100% certainty whether I opted for GSP. If I list 'sell similar' it shows this being ticked, so I am 99.9% certain I did. Ebay can add that other 0.1%

Sounds like it isn't a GSP sale then.

Personally, I wouldn't risk sending a phone abroad to a newly registered buyer.

    Update OP here

    Phoned Ebay ..

Buyer no longer a registered buyer, so Ebay cancelled off the sale for me.

One happy chap is me :j
