Lost ring

That’s ok I can report it and the mrs can tell them where she suspects she lost it etc
That’s great it covers outside the home. Just need to find the limit now0 -
Do you have any pictures of the ring, they will ask if you have any proof of possession.
Although you dont have a receipt, did you have any CC or bank statement with it onmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yes lots of pictures with it on, we do have the original receipt0
-
check your policy schedule for the limits (not the policy booklet)0

What is the single article limit for valuables? You may also be required to obtain a CRN / lost-property reference from police which will be validated by your insurer's claims' team upon logging the claim. They may also ask for proof of the incident, e.g., receipts from when you were out shopping to corroborate the story, as well as your proof of purchase / valuations as required.0

That’s all ok as she has put everything all in one bag (and had it all out a million times to look for it) have rang the police and if they want to look at cctv they can as they will see her there etc I’ve got a CRN. However I can’t imaginw anyone handing it in can you??
The problem is it’s worn with two other rings so she didn’t realise one was gone like you would a single ring.0 -

Why ever not?
If I found an expensive ring I'd hand it in.
You might want to check your policy for valuables.
They might question whether you are underinsured.
If one ring is £3.2K and she has three then is your £5.5K sufficient for everything everyone on the policy is taking outside the home at one time?
If they decided you were 50% underinsured then they would pay 50% of the claim.
Otherwise I don't see any issue. Now is when you find out how good your insurer is.0 -
I hope someone would but it could be anywhere with people walking past, rolled into a drain or anything. I have said this to the missus as well
The other rings aren’t as expensive as them but we will see what they say I suppose!!!
We live in hope it’s found but I always go by hope for the best, prepare for the worst0 -

A very good plan in general.
There is no reason why your claim shouldn't be paid, but I'm sure you understand that insurance companies need to guard against fraud and anyone can just call and say they've lost an expensive ring (guard the receipt with your life and personally I'd take a copy).
Some friends had a camera taken from their car several years ago.
The insurer visited their home briefly just to check that they were the kind of people that would own a decent camera.e.g. middle-class home with all the trimmings. If they'd lived in a slum that would obviously make the insurer suspicious. Honest claimants have nothing to worry about.
It's possible you are not uninderinsured and this is the most expensive item you have.
I'm just saying that it could look like you might be under-insured as there are at least 3 rings (possibly 4), plus other jewellry, 2 watches, 2 phones, 2 kindles etc. (I'm assuing the £5.5K covers 2 adults).
It's possible that you're fine I'm just saying it might be questioned, but given everything is above board then there is nothing to worry about.0 -

The under insured point is interesting, as last time I spoke to my home insurer they encouraged me to reduce the personal possessions cover I had.
(I have c £10k of cover as it covers abroad, and if we were ever with our suitcases and lost 2 x iPhones, Laptops, 2 x Kindle, 2 x iPad, Wedding ring, jewellery, handbag, headphones, DSLR, GoPro etc etc etc, then we'd be getting on for that much. The insurer suggested I should consider a lower level of insurance as it's unlikely we would have all of those things together and they would all be stolen...)0
