Car in limp mode after MOT

Not sure what you're inferring or asking here exactly, but when she pulled up on the driveway and said something was wrong, I took it for a drive with her in the passenger seat and she filmed it.0 -
My lad's Peugeot went in for a MOT last week. Drove it home, everything fine. Set off to work and an "Anti Pollution System Fault" warning light came up on the dash. Nothing to do with the MOT, just unfortunate timing.
Other than the emissions test on a diesel where they rev the nuts off it there's nothing done during a MOT that'll break a gearbox or cause an engine warning light to come on. Same with repairing the handbrake spring.
Sorry to hear that. And thankyou.0 -

Thanks. Yes, if it was bad luck and it did go, then it's happened on their premises, while they've been using it (as it wouldn't go when the engine isn't running). So that's what I'm trying to get to the bottom of.0 -
Update: I've just found a bunch of reviews online from people also taking cars in for recalls and coming out with faults. This seems to be a trend!0

Use torque pro to find error code. Check gear oil level. Where in the car is the handbrake spring, is it near gearbox? When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0 -

Hi Peter, thanks for the reply. Currently they are 'doing diagnostics' on it and will let me know. They didn't know the exact error at the time, just said they don't do gearboxes so didn't really look into it. I'm no mechanic so I don't even know what torque pro is, but I want them to show me the error readout when I go there (hopefully today). Is there anything in particular I can find out that torque pro would give me?0 -
I have video and photographic evidence of it happening on the 20 minute drive home yesterday straight from collecting it.Not sure what you're inferring or asking here exactly, but when she pulled up on the driveway and said something was wrong, I took it for a drive with her in the passenger seat and she filmed it.
So you don't have evidence of it happening on the way home. You have evidence of it happening after you got home and went out for another drive. Thanks for replies so far. My wife is an anxious driver (which is why she has an automatic) and she was in end of day traffic, so although i suppose it's not ideal to take the car straight back I can understand why. We are only 20 mins away, and the light itself isn't too noticeable; it's mostly obscured by the steering wheel. So at small speeds you don't notice the issue as you're just crawling in traffic in second. It wasn't till about halfway on the journey she noticed something was up and she just wanted to get it home as people were staring at her etc and it was more stressful to find a spot and pull over. As soon as she came home she told me and i got in the car and could see light was on. Hindsight always good.
She really should be looking at the dashboard more often, next time it could be a serious fault and the car could be damaged by her continuing to drive and ignore it.0 -

Thanks for the advice Takman, I'll pass this onto her and I'm sure she'll be very thankful.0 -

It can give clues such such as the dtc code. You may be able to read several of the sensor readings when driving using a cheap Bluetooth obd.
It could be something small like a connector to a sensor that is playing, check the temperature readings on the dashboard. I was having trouble with limp mode and I just squeezed the connector to the temperature sensor and fixed the problem. When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche

Torque Pro wont work on its own, it needs a diagnostic tool in order to work, these are cheap enough but... Torque Pro will not interface will all the different parts of a vauxhall, you are better off using something like vauxcom or opcom.0
