Cowboy carpenter

Hi,
I've been done by a cowboy carpenter.
Made arrangements for him to fit 10 doors. Materials supplied by me.
He started work and made a hash of trimming a door to the point it can't be used at all.
He has vanished, all I have is a name and mobile number.
He hasn't returned my keys So I've reported him for the theft, police not following up due to resourcing restrictions. Locks being changed.
Any suggestions as to where to go from here? I need an address to proceed with anything legal.
Thanks.

What are you intending to pursue him for? Return of the keys or cost of replacement locks? Cost of the bodged door? Did you pay him up front to do the work and you're now seeking to get that money back?0

Ask on social media if anyone knows him. That usually turns them up.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Where did you find this carpenter? Does he not have a Facebook page? Were there not any reviews to read before contacting him?
I would try posting on social media to get hold of him.
Have you checked 192.com or similar to find an address for him?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Have you tried to Google the mobile number?
That sometimes brings up results.0 -
Why not name him on here... some people can do really good detective work0

The keys aren't theft, you gave him them, not returning them is a civil rather than a criminal matter.0

It seems to me that the OP wants restitution for something else, perhaps the door the joiner fitted which is now unusable?0 -
What happens when you ring his mobile? If he's blocked you, try it from another phone, or get a friend to ring with a spurious enquiry. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Not really, companies and individuals are named on the forum all the time, as long as nothing defamatory is said I don't see that there's any problem.0
