Weird situation in Lidl with Apple Pay at the moment. A few weeks back my bill was just over £32 and I paid using apple pay with Amex card. Would not accept it. Wondered if it was a glitch. Today my Lidl total was £30.06. Amex apple pay would not work. Switched over to my Nationwide credit card in apple pay and that was accepted.

Although Lidl accept Apple Pay well over £30 limit, is seems that Amex is treated as though it were a card contactless payment.

It will be interesting to see what happens when I go to Aldi and the bill is over £30.

Has anyone else experienced this with Lidl?

Just come back from a shopping trip and I was able to use Amex and Apple Pay for a £162 transaction. Nothing wrong with Apple Pay and Amex - it must be something on Lidl's end.

Up to Lidl what limit they accept.

With Apple Pay you can spend up to £30 at stores accepting American Express contactless. Some retailers may still only accept up to the previous £20 limit, whilst others may choose to allow purchases of greater than £30 specifically on Apple Pay transactions. Please check in-store for details.

Lidl accept up to £999. If I use any of my other cards linked to Apple Pay and over £30 no problem. The only combination that doesn't work is Lidl+over £30+Amex+Apple Pay.

I posted this to see if anyone else was experiencing the same problem as me, because if not, then I can possibly narrow it down to my local Lidl rather than Lidl in general.
