Premier Inn - Booking Mistake, can I cancel?

I attempted to book a room at Premier Inn for later this month.
Somehow I managed to book the room for this evening by mistake.
This was at approx 7.45pm.
I booked the saver rate, because I had no intention of cancelling for the correct date.
I realised my mistake as soon as I got the confirmation message displayed on screen. I rang the hotel immediately, but because it’s the saver rate, they don’t have the rights to alter the booking. Instead I need to speak to central reservations, but being a Sunday evening, they are not open.
So now I need to ring them first thing in the morning to discuss and see if they are prepared to do anything for me.
Before I do that, I’m wondering if anyone knows whether I have any legal right to refund given that I spotted the mistake and tried to contact them immediately?

No you have no legal right to a refund. A goodwill gesture for them to swap it to the correct date is also very unlikely but it's worth a try.0

I would be very surprised if they do not switch it to the new date. Premier Inn have good customer service and booking a room for tonight at 7:30pm is so obviously a mistake that I think they will be sympathetic.
You have no right to a refund so make sure you are pleasant to them when you speak to them0 -
I would phone tonight if possible.
A friend of mine did something similar and he phoned straight away and the error was sorted for him0 -
So after going through 3 departments, I was finally put through to Guest Relations who were able to help. They were able to see what time the booking was made, and also that the hotel had put a comment on the booking less than 20minutes later indicating that I had contacted them about the problem. Because of this, they have given me a full refund.0

Good for them. It's always nice to see good customer service exists.0

The exact same thing happened to me - and Premier Inn refunded and we made a new booking for the correct dates. I was amazed, as we too had booked the non-refundable rate.0

Thats great news, well done premier inn!
Next time just be careful when booking, check, check and check again.
