DoYouSpain car hire

I am in need of some advice!

I have used this company before, with no problems, but it seems that they have shown their true colours when it comes to a problem!

I booked some months ago now, car hire from Alicante. When I got to the payment stage, something happened with the connection and it did not go through, so I started again. I booked for my husband to be the main driver and was informed that I needed to pay the car hire company direct on the day of pick up for an additional driver. I received a confirmation email. A few hours later, I received another email from them with the opening line, 'Thank you for your booking..' it went on to explain that I had chosen the prepaid option, but payment had not yet been made. Follow the link to complete your booking. I clicked on the link, to find out that the car was no longer available at that rate (oh what a surprise) and I would need to start again. I did this a few days later and without think, booked it in my name, but this would not make a difference as we would get additional driver added when we got there. Once I had received the confirmation booking, I began to wonder and rang DoYouSpain to ask if I had one or two bookings. I was told that I had two, but as they were both non-refundable, tough, no refund, despite this being moments since the second booking. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that they were not in the office and she did not know when she would be returning!!
I wrote an email of complaint, received no reply and so rang. Again I was told, tough, non-refundable. I pointed out that this was a genuine mistake brought on by their highly misleading email, but no one was listening. Again, the manager was not in the office and was not returning any time soon. The lady said that they had got my email, but as the names were different they were clearly two differenbookings, so tough, no refund.
I have contacted the credit card company and they re looking into it, but this has now been going on for two months and we could really do with the £300 we have had robbed from us back and I wanted to know if anyone else has any advice. My advice is to work with the car hire company direct, get your own excess insuarance and rent full to full fuel only, there is a petrol station moments past Alicante airport to fill up at!
Thanks

  • Full to full fuel does not guarantee money back , I've waited 2 months for my 70euros , have emailed too many time to recall , I've now given up as I had 10days rental for 28.5 euros then lost the petrol so less than 10 euros a day , took it on the chin though not happy
