Returning an opened item (goes against return policy)?

  • Just to bring this one to a close here...

As i say, i got in touch with Amazon at the weekend who thankfully reassured me about the refund.

Don't forget here that i posted this and another parcel off on 2nd July both via 2nd class and the other parcel arrived 4th July. Also don't forget that the seller didn't seem too keen that i was returning it. I could be wrong but i got the vibe off them that they reluctantly accepted. Take that for what you will, even if it's for nothing at all.

Amazon sent me a copy of the email they sent to the seller. Basically it was refund your customer.

I get an email from the seller today to say - the item turned up in Saturday's post so they're refunding now.

Now in my personal experience based on selling and buying online, if the parcel didn't turn up after a few days then it wasn't going to turn up. It most certainly was not going to appear 12 days after posting.

Possible yes, but in my opinion very unlikely.

What i think has happened is they weren't keen on the return but accepted it anyway.

Found that they didn't need to sign for it so thought they'd chance it and say it never arrived.
Amazon told them to refund me so they thought oh we better say it's arrived (late) and issue the refund.

Whatever the weather, i've got my money back. Lesson learned.

I am glad it turned out as it should have. As you say, lesson learned.
  • Yep, the whole thing could've ended up being a lot more difficult, both eBay and this one.

Thanks to all those who helped along the way here in this thread. Much appreciated.
