I remember PayPal did 'a thing' where you could return items for free, but only x-amount in a year.

I couldn't honestly say if this was 2017 or 2016 even but i know i used it after stumbling across a link somewhere.

Just wondering if this is an offer that still exists as i've a couple items to return & would like to get out of paying the postage fee if possible :D

If they are eBay purchases and are not change of mind returns, then eBay will make the seller provide a label.

If they are change of mind or you specifically want to use Paypal cases, then https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/refunded-returns is what you are looking for.

    Superb. Thank you.

I ordered some clothing & its turned out to be the wrong size so i'll need to order again. It'll be quicker to just get a refund on this one but order the correct size today so that i'm not waiting on them receiving the return first.

Just to check - what service should be used really to return?

signed for or just simple 1st class with free proof of postage?

If it matters then the clothing was £25.

I've changed the thread title as lately i've had enough people complaining i've made more than 1 thread, even though the original thread title for this wouldn't apply to this question...

I've just checked their returns policy

Products can only be returned if packaging is not broken, is unworn/ not used and all tags are still attached to the product.

I assume by worn they mean beyond just trying them on?

The item i bought still has all its tags but the problem is - how do you try it on to see if it fits without opening the packaging?

So right now i'm not sure if i'll be able to return this or not. I know some times sellers can put in clauses that they can't enforce (that are against eBay policies).

    So what's the situation here?
  • Yes you can return, their policy is in contradiction to your right to cancel (assuming the seller is in the EU)

Yup they're in the same region even. :)

I thought that was the case but you know when you doubt yourself....

I'm assuming this is a properly registered business seller? if so then as above open a change of mind return on eBay, which seller can't refuse, and then send item back fully tracked and insured. If it's a private seller, or an incorrectly registered business then they can refuse a change of mind return.

Just wondering if the post office could've caused a bit of a problem here.

I've no chance of getting these items to a post office. I don't work near one and i work Saturday's so i left the parcels with my wife & just told her to send them off 2nd class recorded if she gets the chance to go on her dinner break (one is an item that i mentioned here from eBay & the other is from Amazon).

Anyway she had time so did it. I've just looked at the receipt now & noticed that they put for both items the value as £20 each.

I realised i should've told her how much they were worth beforehand & made comment.

To this she told me that they didn't even ask her the value. She said she heard another worker in there serving someone else asking what the item was and how much it's worth. She said SOMEtimes she gets asked this but on this occasion she didn't get asked either question - what is it or how much is it worth.

I bought one for £25 & the other was £45+£10postage=£55total.

    But receipt says £20 each.

    Potential problem?

There's no such service as recorded now, if your wife sent them signed for then the potential compensation is up to £50. If they went standard post then the compensation is limited to £20 and you o lay get delivery confirmation for parcels, not large letters.

I wondered why the reference number looked totally different.

The other week she went in & posted a couple of items ... "first class recorded" (because neither of us knew that this service no longer existed. Only right now from reading your post has either of us become aware)

On THAT receipt it stated "1st class ... SIGNED FOR" and had a reference number in the format that it always has done when asking for this service.

Today she goes in & since there's no urgency for it to reach its destination she asks for "second class recorded" - like she always has done.

This time i've noticed on the receipt that it doesn't say anything about signed for, it only says 2nd class.

The thing that stood out to me is the reference number is in a totally different format. Instead of the letter-letter-load of numbers-letter-letter (where the final 2 letters always seem to be GB) this time the format is ####-####-####-#XX#

with # being number & X being letter and the dashes included.

So i'm guessing then that this has been sent the lesser of the two methods.

Really the postie should've said - we no longer do a recorded service OR said do you mean X service or Y service, to which my wife could've said i'm not sure i'll come back again tomorrow once i've asked the question.

Just hope the parcels reach their destination now :(

£2.95 was the price for each. One weighed 236g the other 681g if that helps.

Out of curiosity - when did this 'recorded' service stop? As for years i've said for example .... 2nd class recorded & i've ALWAYS been given the service that requires the signature.
