I've been out of the cashback scene for a long time so any tips you can give would be helpful (PM me if you don't want to write it publically).0 -

Would you share that with the forum?0 -
I think the fraud & abuse was probably people having the audacity not to pay extra & taking the advertised rate as being Free!
Started off OK but then went to automatically inclue extras and charge for removing them.
Interestingly enough if one goes to the website it still proposes the 'basic free' plan - might be worth a note to the ombudsman!0 -

It seems from anecdotal evidence that there was abuse by FreedomPop themselves who kept adding unauthorised charges onto peoples free accounts in an effort to up their income up and lots of those people complained to FreedomPop and also to their banks if the threads on their forums are to believed.0 -
Are there any free alternatives or virtual numbers that someone could recommend?
As mentioned above, I used Freedompop for Gumtree/classifieds, but not concerned about data/minutes.0 -
I don't think that you'll ever find itemised calls in your credit card statement. In fact it's their CS number http://uk.freedompop.com/complaints-codeThe charge is obviously for some other calls or for going over 200Mb limit. IIRC it's the minimum topup they take for anything that isn't free.
I have raised a chargeback with the credit card company.0 -
Anyone know of an operator that gives cheap calls. I was thinking of a company that gives us an 0800 number to use to phone them and allows us to place cheap calls through the 0800 number now that I'll lose the 200 free mins I used to get with FreedomPop.
I know localphone used to offer something like this but they may have stopped it as I couldn't find any details on their website about this anymore.0 -
Ive been subject to unauthorised charges with Freedompop. Been trying to cancel account for a while now but continue to take card payment for monthly fee. Their cancellation process through your online account doesnt work.when i made contact suddenly my fee went from 4.99 to 5.99 then i found out how to downgrade so its free. They then took another 5.99 card payment and had the cheek to charge £10 top up, all unauthorised. And im not even using the sim! So ive contacted my bank to block them taking any payments. Their contact no is in US so likely to get huge international call charges. Wouldn't touch them wth barge pole.0
