The notice itself directs you to their online appeals page but only asks for the car registration and PCN reference. There is no option; on the first screen at least, to add any text or email.
Obviously. That's a typical gateway page.

Then the second page asks who you are and what the appeal is...of course it does.

Please let's not have a new thread about a gateway page to an appeals page.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

• Macdonalds Gatwick MET fine

Got a £100 fine for using car park despite being a Macdonalds customer. Wrote to MET and sent a copy of my bank statement showing transaction for Macdonalds but they said my details have been passed to a debt collection agency and I need to take it up with them. They also said if I correspond with them further they will not reply.

I have since had another letter from the debt collectors saying my fine has gone up to £170 and if I don't pay they will pass it back to MET recommending they take me to court. However MET have said they won't correspond with me again so guess they'll just take me to court. They seem to be deliberately difficult in resolving the issue so they can continue with their intimidation.

However I am not concerned because my guess is they won't. If they do I would be interested to hear what their case is as I have produced a receipt. I have been here before with other private parking companies and never paid them a penny. One went to the Supreme Court (apparently) but I held my nerve and never heard any more about it.

I also wrote to Macdonalds but haven't had a reply.

Paul, please read post 10.

It is not a fine, it is an invoice from an ex- clamper for damages for the harm they allege they suffered when you did what you did. We call it a scam. Pay them not one penny unless a judge so orders it.

Nine times out of ten of these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra work.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

One of yours went to The Supreme Court? Which parking firm was that?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You should start your own thread rather than hi-jack someone else's. When you do, this will be the first response. Did you perhaps use the wrong bit of the car park, stay too long or omit to put your VRM in the keypad cunningly hidden inside McDonalds?
