Beware McDonalds Gatwick Parking

MET PARKING SERVICES
I got a parking ticket in McDonalds Gatwick a few weeks ago. I turned up at approximately 1150am, (receipt from MD's till) went through the drive-through, went in to the car park, eat the food and left at 12.22 according to their camera. the limit was 90 minutes.
I have provide a receipt from the drive-through and I was in the car park less that 40 minutes.
They said pay £50 within 14 days
Then to say if I appeal again and it goes against me I will be liable for the full £100 is very unfair.
Not happy at all - its 100% wrong and they cant provide the photo of me driving in to the car park. - because there isn't one.
The amount of time it takes and the stress involved means I will just pay this via my company but it makes me think how many other people are getting ripped off in this manner!!!!!!
McDonalds needs to re think who they give their contracts too. MET parking should be ashamed of themselves.

Well we know all of this, and deal with these all the time. Easy to beat....the stress involved means I will just pay this via my company
No stress, not lots of time, simple copy & paste appeals.
No-one pays. Read the NEWBIES FAQS thread. Wow wow wow, no paying it! LOL! It's MET...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You and hundreds of others. Somebody should write some very bad stuff on their Facebook page.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I had no idea this was such a big issue.
Thanks very much0 -
It is huge, one of the biggest scams around. If we can get it crushed it could be as big as PPI.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Use the template appeal in the top sticky thread for NEWBIES to read first.
And newbies need to be aware:

It's always good to take your complaint directly with the landowners whilst dealing with the appeals process. Nearly all of my fines have been cancelled before I've even recieved a reply from the PCC.
I have had my fine from McDonalds out in Oxford cancelled by the manager of the resturant after I provided reciept and requested CCTV footage. Most times they cannot be bothered to deal with the request and go ahead and cancel it for you. It might be best to say you've been advised to contact the manager of the store and that a simple email or phone call to the PCC can cancel it.
If one customer service channel doesn't work try another. As another time with Shell petrol station I contacted them via email with no success, but a simple DM on Twitter cancelled a £100 fine. No appeal needed.0 -
Hi, my wife has just received a PCN from MET at Gatwick.
Ive read through the 'neewbies' section and want to appeal. My wife wasnt the driver, there was no windshield notification, the PCN arrived 16 days after the alleged violation.
I have prepared the template (thanks for all those that have provided these!) my question is how do i actually appeal. The notice itself directs you to their online appeals page but only asks for the car registration and PCN reference. There is no option; on the first screen at least, to add any text or email.
I havent completed this as all messages are to only send appeal by email; i dont want to get 'entrapped' by just appealing with no other supporting info/email. does anyone know if their online page allows for text updates further into the process or whether i should just send the appeal to their 'info' email address?
thanks for any help.0 -

You do know your appeal will be rejected? But it's just the process you have to go through to gain access to POPLA where you can get this killed off.
But any more you want to ask, please open a new thread of your own - forum etiquette - one case, one thread. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
