Good morning.
The sun hasn't reached a peak yet here. It may not be as hot as yesterday. Think it's hotter at my place.
My DM was in bed and seems to have been there a few days (she doesn't tell me this when we exchange our emails!). Mostly it's because the heat is affecting her heart and breathing.
My lovely neighbour and the local bobby built and installed the new gate for the front garden. :j I only found out when I got an email with pics. :j I'll post one up when I can.
Today I hope to get into town for a little mooch around. And I've got two savings passbooks to get updated. Gives me an excuse to sit in the V irgin money lounge for a wee while.
I wish everyone a hot and happy Friday.0 -
Morning All
First day of the holidays, 6 weeks of nothing to do! Highly unusual to start the summer break with good weather, yesterday reached 32.5 degrees here.
I went to see DD and BF's new house yesterday, it needs a lot of decoration but is lovely, the neighbour's houses and gardens are clean and tidy and it's nice and quiet. I'm sure they will make it into a lovely home, they get the keys in 2 weeks.
I got some really nice gifts for the end of term, one card had me in tears, a little autistic girl had chosen me as a friend and her mum gave me a very touching card and gift. The little girl goes to another school after the summer and I will miss her very much.
Anyway, lots to do today including cleaning the very grubby windows and changing my bed. I have visitors arriving tomorrow for the week so had better get a move on.
Have a happy Friday and stay cool! Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Bit cooler here today with a welcome breeze so have no excuse not to tackle Mount Ironmore, it’s built up over the last few days and needs doing so that my job for this morning.
Lu didn’t get her bath yesterday, we have a lesson today so hope to do it afterwards as it will cool us both down, other than that no many other plans.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning chums and a beautiful day in the making here in north Kent.Nice and warm and sunny with a slight breeze.A little bit of ironing to catch up with this morning then a quick swish round with the hoover and duster.History club this afternoon which I always enjoy. Dinner to night will be salad with probably tuna and sweet corn as I have some left over cooked new potatoes to use up and lots of salady bits. I am off to my sis-in-laws tomorrow afternoon in Faversham until sunday afternoon so I like to leave the house looking clean and tidy.
Hope you all have a good weekend and the sun shines down on you all
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning
Looks like another hot one here. We now have more fires in the area with a place called Winter Hill going the same way as Saddleworth you can smell it even though its a good 20 miles away.
Think a good rain fall would really do us all good atm although would prefer it overnight then we keep the lovely sunny days. Headache was back with a vengeance yesterday its a real nasty one in the eye so Im trying to keep my water levels up...4 sticks a day clearly not enough so need to up to 5 today. Felt too ill for food so had a bowl of cereal but that came back pretty quicklywouldn't mind if this was hip related but assuming its not as that is healing nicely now.
Not much planned today as it will be headache dependant but hoping to do a bit of a tidy as its bin day and try to get some food eaten...anything will do.
Time for more waterHave a good Friday all

Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Its coolish just now, the sun is just beginning to shine. I have all the curtains at the front closed to protect the rooms from the sun.
My neighbour's appointment yesterday was 9.30am it was 11.30 before she was called. I had to ring OH and ask him to take the drawers out of the hall chest so the carpet cleaners could move it. When I got home the cleaners has just gone. It took the carpet all afternoon to dry out, but it looks like a new carpet. We will be using the back door to come and go. The chest is bak in the right place, have to sort the book case today, books need to go back in after I have cleaned down the wall and skirting behind it.
No plans for today, just sort the living room. I have to clean the soles of OH's slippers he has been wearing them in the garden.
I have almost finished the knitted blanket, it rapidly became a blanket for the new baby. I have some material for the quilt for her so will have to start on that. I also received an invite to sell at the Artisan Fair in November. I have some stuff left over from last year. Have an idea for mats and runners, so will see how I go. in the mean time I will send off the money for the table. OH has said he will come and support me.
Fish and chips tonight, I am going to put some of the frozen strawberries in jelly for dessert with icecream.
Update.... sorting through the books whilst we were putting them back I came across a book square foot gardening, its an American book but lots of the advice applies to us here. Great for someone with a small garden who wants to grow some of their own food. It is brand new and in very good condition, I am looking for £10 including postage. Let me know if you are interested.0 -
Good morning all. It's bright and sunny here, lovely. Yesterday was the same. We are getting accustomed to this weather, it'll be a nasty shock when it ends.
I'm late to the party because I had a bad night, then fell asleep about sixish, waking up about 8 - I hate it when that happens.
I was out all day yesterday. I went to a charity coffee morning held by one of my card making friends, accompanies by one of the other card makers. That went well, I hope she made a lot of money. We bussed home then went for a sandwich lunch in one of the pubs here. Then went straight on to our cardmaking session. We'd taken a small amount of basic cardmaking stuff with us, so didn't have to go home for anything. Finally arrived home about 4pm after a really nice day out. It brightened me up no end.
Holly, we have had some lovely holidays on Norfolk, happy days!
TA, glad Mr TA was able to go out for a while, it's a little break for you as well. Heaven knows you deserve it.
Bella bella, sounds like a scary experience you had - hope the police caught up with the drunk.
Don't know what's happening today - just what I call "stuff" I expect. There'll be a couple of friends round tonight for the usual Friday night natter.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care all.0 -
Morning all,
It was bloody 30 degrees in Scotland yesterday. The Science Centre in Glasgow started melting!!!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-44635107
Today is slightly cooler but still tropical for Glasgow. I've a work night out starting at 3pm, but I recon I'll get the last train home and be sensible.
I tidied up the flat last night, done my washing and even starting my ironing this morning. So I've now got the weekend to recover from tonight's antics.
Stay cool and have a nice weekend everyone.
Judi - Hope you feel better soon
bellabella - I think you done the right thing. Who knows how that could have ended otherwise.0 -
Holly, we were only a few miles apart yesterday - we walked the coast path from Burnham Deepdale to Holkham. It's a beautiful beach but boy do you know about it when you walk the length of it. It was DS' birthday and he chose what to do but it was a bit disappointing because until mid-afternoon it was overcast and the wind was decidedly chilly.
Nelski, you could see Winter Hill from the house where I grew up, will the fires affect the TV mast (if it's still there of course)?
I got a bit burnt yesterday - obviously the sun was more in evidence than we thought.
Cleaning today but that's about it.0
