Some info on the backdating of CA (this may apply between Feb & June (or to the date you claimed UC)):
    "Backdating
If you were entitled to Carer's Allowance before the date you claimed it, you can ask for it to be backdated for up to three months."

Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

Hi Alice thanks for your reply.
I been on universal credit for some time
I started caring for my mum in Feb
I only discussed caring for my mum with my work coach 2 weeks ago she said I'd be better off claiming carers allowance.
    I then applied online .
I'm waiting to hear back regarding this.
I don't know what my next step is ?
Will I continue getting universal credit plus carers element ?
Do you know how much I will receive?
    Thanks sue

The Carers Allowance will be deducted from your UC and be paid separately by CA. They will then add the £156 element to your UC, so you will be this amount better off.

As stated above, they will add the element, so it's automatically added.

Carers Allowance between 8-12 weeks. The Carers element will be backdated yes and not the carer allowance because you can't be paid twice for that. As Alice stated, there was no need for you to claim CA because you would have got the element added to your UC anyway.
