Hi

My phone is driving me potty, I keep getting asked maybe twice a week to review a pub by Google

I've never been to the pub but I passed it going on a bike ride about 3 months ago - my phone has been pestering me to review it every since.

I've tried everything to try to stop it, turned of notifications in google maps, I do not use Google Assistance so nothing to turn off there. I do not use many apps at all, no social media stuff on it, so I'm 99% this is google pestering me, not some sort of malware (although its starting to feel like it!)

I get a knife and fork icon pop up then a request to review it notification - how do I turn this damn thing off?! Just happened again now!

Worst ever excuse for going to the pub - sorry, I had to go in, it was the only way to stop my phone pestering me.

    Review:-

Hated the pub, as it was not bicycle friendly.

They wouldn't serve me any chain oil for it.

    This is on maps.

You can edit your history to say you have not been here. Even looking at hte notification you should be able to say I have not been here.

You can opt out of contribute completely if you like. Though it is a fun game!

I've done this numerous times, it started off asking questions ie does it serve food? Is it disabled friendly? that sort of thing. I told it I've never been in, but it still pesters me.

I'm sure I've turned everything off I can think of.

I don't have Google Now (thats a launcher isn't it?) or those settings anywhere.

I don't have Nearby enabled as it needs Bluetooth and I don't use that.
I can't see anything relevant in Location permissions either.

I've got no idea whats generating the damn things!

I have today started getting these questions about my visits and have done this, do not know if it will stop them.

    Open maps
    click on the 3 dots
    click settings
    click notifications
    click your contributions
    turn off Questions about places

There may be other things to turn off in that section.

Annoying isn't it? The more I think about this, unwanted intrusions like this are little more than malware, and I can't see a huge amount of difference between these and those fake 'your computer is at risk' popups you see occasionally on the internet on your PC. Both are unwanted, and both are a pain in the posterior.

I've tried all these in Maps, I checked again and they seem to be off.

Next step will be to uninstall Maps (which I don't use anyway) if this is responsible.
