They're mostly dealer ads because most car sales for more than a few thousand are via dealers now.

You will probably struggle to sell it. Most people buying a nearly new car want :-
    • Trade in facilities
    • Finance
    • The assurance of an established main dealer / seller

For the particular car type, i'd be ringing the local franchised dealers for that franchise and asking to speak to the "used car buyer" and get a valuation from him. Also We Buy Any Car, any other purchasing sites and any big car supermarkets in your area.

You could stick it on Autotrader but it will need to be significantly cheaper than the cheapest dealer equivalent car to get the phone to ring.

Autotrader are expensive because they are the go to platform for used car sales. An advert on there will get the biggest audience.

Depends on the car and other factors, £11k and nearly new, appears a 'run of the mill' car , I guess it's worth the punt on AT to see if it does sell privately.

Put yourself in the shoes of a typical potential buyer.

If it really IS "nearly new", then most people will be looking to buy from that marque's dealer.
Would YOU buy a "nearly new" car privately?

I would have to shell out for a HPI, 'nearly new' private seller = outstanding finance generally

From recent experience of selling a 1 year old DS3

Local Main Dealer - offered £10k
Tootle (an online site that advertises to Dealers) - offered £10.5k

Eventually part exchanged it against a new car and 'got' £11.25k

An HPI is basic common sense for anything of non-negligible value anyway, regardless of source.

    a) 'Almost new' is pushing it a bit - it's nearly a year old
    b) £11,995 new doesn't mean it's worth £11k now
    c) There are 16 on Autotrader under £12k (allowing negotiation down to £11k) from Main Dealers - some pre-reg offering reasonable finance levels and 2yrs free servicing

Sensibly depending on condition/mileage you'll be advertising sub £10k to get any interest

ETA I see it's on Ebay at £10,995 - let us know how you get on - especially as there's a approved used one from main dealer not a million miles away from you that's cheaper
